'The Democrats and Veterans Party' to officially Launch today
Over a month ago
Armed forces veterans launch their own party today in London titled ‘The Democrats and Veterans Party’ (DVP).
They have drawn up a manifesto which they believe will appeal to millions of “decent, patriotic people” with centrist views. They hope to have 1,000+ members on board when the new party is launched on the 9th February at the Union Jack Club, Sandell Street, London, SE18 8UJ.
In their manifesto, the DVP say they want to unite decent civilians and ex-forces who love their country. It says: “We believe it’s the British people, not our self-serving elite, who are best placed to make decisions.
“We now have the means to guarantee real government by consent. We have a plan to implement this system across Britain.”
Plans are so well advanced that the DVP says it could field 87 candidates if there was a snap election tomorrow. They will initially target constituencies with garrison towns or high populations of service personnel, such as Tidworth, Catterick, Aldershot and Colchester.
The DVP’s draft manifesto says the EU referendum result was an “extraordinary expression of disquiet” about the way we have done politics for the last 40 years.
It states: “We, like many in the UK, have grown tired of self-serving careerists. We’re tired of seeing a country that many fought, died and worked hard to defend and prosper being callously mistreated by a degenerate political class who have no concept of service, duty or patriotism and who are growing morally deficient.”
The Party will reassert the nation's Constitution and Common Law; protect and strengthen the rights of the individual; and defend the principles of freedom of speech and liberty of conscience, without compromise.
Embracing modern technology to provide a truly democratic approach to politics, and with a forward-looking, inclusive vision that is supportive of the people’s decision made on 23rd June 2016 to leave the EU.
The Democrats and Veterans will supply the electorate with what they’re calling for: an accountable party that will seek to assert the will of the British people upon their elected servants in Westminster and in local government.
The membership will be open on the morning of the 9th February and funding will come from donations and £24-a-year membership fees.
