Can YOU assist BBC Radio 4 documentaries on the Cold War

Can YOU assist BBC Radio 4 documentaries on the Cold War for new series?

Each edition focuses on a particular moment in the cold war, as recounted by three people who were there.

This episode will focus on the early 1980s when the Cold War hotted up again after a long period of relative calm. American cruise missiles arrived in little English towns, and with them came US servicemen – and their families – in large numbers, bringing new pressures but also new prosperity.

BBC Radio 4 would like to find people who were at RAF Mildenhall in the early 1980s - ideally they would have been around when the ‘Able Archer’ exercise happened in 1983.

The casting BBC Radio 4 would like to aim for is:

• American who came over
• British person directly involved in the base
• Bystander affected by bases arriving
