Sad aint it!! Less ships nowadays, even less tot!! Further to my piccy of Pompey.... Some of the other ships are Sheffield (C24), Rame Head, Volage, Rapid, Protector, Crossbow, Chailey and for Allan Guiness Cavendish! Possibly Tiger in the background. No idea of the sweeper, nor the Launch in the foreground.

just been informed of another cassandra shipmate crossing the bar, commish before mine, standard bearer and 7 shipmates attending his funeral, packed attendance was the comment, the tribute phrase from his shipmates, serving with you was a privilege, the boys, a good comment in memory of, pedlar john palmer. as i,ve already mentioned, the passing of a great shipmate paul chads chadwick, it,s strange how age can sometimes cause you to wonder what peoples opinion was off you in younger life, chads a few times asked this question over the last couple of years, on talking to all who knew him he was funny, witty always there to give advice to us juniors, those i am still in touch with from cassandra days have nothing but praise for him, i once said to chads , you can always tell whether a person was liked by the number of photographs they appear in, ruddy ell i told him your in nearly them all , speaks for itself, another old oppo i will miss talking to.

just recieved my cassandra chronicle, sadly it told me of the crossing of the bar of pedlar palmer, pedlar was on the commish before mine but at reunions he was the rum bosun, a very cheerful chap, always a big beaming smile, i,m sure len will remember him well, he,ll be missed by all.

Quoting: robert wells and here,s number two. Always sad to see ships heading for the scrapyard especially ones with excellent war records etc, the life span of todays RN ships are not as long as they were in the 50s and early 70s, now we are building a carrier to go into reserve as soon as she is signed over to the RN and another which is going into commission without aircraft--what next????????
