Bomber Command were the only Branchof The Armed Forces not to receive A Medal in their own right at the end of WW2. Please go to htt://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/22953 to sign this petition, in war time treated as heroes but since then classed as having committed murder. thank you

I dont understand what you mean by "Bomber Command were the only Branchof The Armed Forces not to receive A Medal in their own right at the end of WW2". I wasnt aware that any Branch of the Armed Forces received a medal in its own right. That was the very reason that Harriss call for one was turned down. If you mean that there should have been a Medal for the Bombing Campaign, that lasted from the very start to the end of the War in Europe, then I agree that there should have been one for those who took the war into the skies of Germany. That wont happen now, and indeed the Aircrew Europe Medal is often called the Bomber command Medal as their aircrew were its main recipients. Why it was never struck, when that other equally long campaign was recognised with the Atlantic Star I leave to others to explain. I suspect it had much to do with the reason that this nation has chosen to wait 67 years for a National Memorial to the 55573 BC aircrew who were lost in WWII.
