This Campaign started with the withdrawal of British Troops from Burma in 1942-43 and the advance of 14 Army back into Burma and the of Rangoon in 1944. You mention Lt Col DGT Horsford as Commanding a Gurkha Bn. He won a DSO at Kohima and a bar to his DSO for his Battalions vigour in the advance back into Burma. My Father, Edward Boyd OBryen Horsford; then a Lt Col, was CO of the Training and Reinforcement Battalion of 81st West African Div in Burma. He received an MID.

I have been researching my Great Granfather who was awarded a Distinguished Conduct Medal during March / April 1944 for his actions at Indaw Lake with the 2nd Leicester.
I have been tracing families of the soldiers that were in the regiment at that time, I would love to find more if I can of people who are connected to the 16th Brigade and BE Fergusson if possible.
I have had some wonderful responses from people all over the world in my search and I am slowly putting a website together in respect of this research.
