Do some I suppose of the Senior members remember the putting on the "Puttees" Give me your views? My name is Duncan Ex RAF Regiment served 22 yrs: I remember getting extensions on the Old DMS boot? Was a real joy to get the New High boots? But must say the "Puttees" did look smart, putting them on the correct way was confusing at the start? What do you think?
We wore puttees with KD shorts back in the fifties. Only purpose being to keep sand from the gap between socks and boots. First thing I did was to shorten the length by 50%. Bit cooler and just as effective. Must have been a nightmare to get the things on properly in the old days. Cheers, Syd.
Certainly do remember nwearing puttees I wonder how many can recall having to put blanco on them Also recall when we had Muster Parades and when the inspection team always checked to see if there was any blanco in the brass bit Memories of them being thrown across the square Cheers
I was presented with Puttees when I was attached to No1 LAA Sqn RAF Regiment in 1970. The Rock Apes kindly showed me how to apply said accesory. I still have them and now use them when I'm out hunting in the warmer weather to stop the tics and other pesky insects from crawling up my trousers.
