Help with army patches & shoulder flashes/titles please RUR in Hong Kong @ Wuppertal 1950's
Please can anyone help with info for Royal Ulster Rifles shoulder patches & flashes for service in Wuppertal 1954-56 and shoulder patches & flashes for service in Hong Kong 1951-1953?
Dates are an approximate.
I'm trying to locate them for my late dad's brother who wants to make a memory box containing dad's army service items.
I believe that theHong Kong patches might be a dragon insignia?
And the German ( Wuppertal) patches etc might be cross keys on black background but I'm not certain. Any ideas where I can get copies of all of these items?
Any further info is most welcome.
just been reading your query , relating to the "shoulder patches & flashes, worn bye the servicemen, returning from Hong Kong, I recall my days as a soldier at that time, we were about to be sent out there , Hong Kong" but mercifully we were to be spared that ordeal, as the armistice had been signed, and the Regiment 45th Field, R/A were relocating back to Dortmund West Germany, and the West Riding Barracks. I don't recall seeing any dragon insignia on the shoulders of the guys we were finally to meet up with, but like myself and the rest of us, who were the advance party ,, we all had the cross keys on our shoulders. The Keys, were in White and set-out on a black back ground, I`m hopeful this may be of some assistance to your search.
