RAF Compton Bassett
Good Morning All from a proud son of RAF Parents.
In the early 1950's my Father was stationed at RAF Compton Bassett near Calne and we lived in the Married Quarters
We lived at number 36, I can't remember the name of the road but I seem to recall it was close to the NAAFI.
We were friends with the Tampsetts and Kingscotes.
I also recall building of new houses next to our house.
As kids, my siblings and I once went to a Fancy Dress at the Camp.
We used to walk up the road to catch a bus to Cherill School.
We left the MQ around mid 50's and I know the Base closed a while ago.
Just wondering is any of the good people on Forces Reunited have any memories/history/photos of the Camp? Would be great to see.
Thanks for your time reading this.
Take care and stay safe.
Best Regards,
Phil Maunder.
