When i saw your post, i couldnt remember posting it so i looked at your details. My Christian name is Robert but to save me being called Rab, my mother called me Roy and it stuck. I did a short tour at Leuchars and lived in Crail. Do you originate from Fife?
I recall your nuptuals at Gib back in the day; '66, was it or maybe '67? Our group played at your reception. Remember Gary Davy, our vocalist, performing his party-piece "Unchained Melody" ?
On the issue of pensions, I think that, like many others, me included, you are on a loser. The deadline seems to be set in concrete, and those who left the mob before that deadline have dipped out, big time.
I managed 14 years, leaving in August '73, and despite numerous protests, petitions, and enquiries, I am nevertheless RAF-pension-less.
I have come to terms with it, as I have a decent pension from British Aerospace, nonetheless I think it is a bit of a swizz, on the part of HM Government and the MoD.
As an aside; the rules with regard to personnel being discharged, dishonourably, from the Armed Forces for reasons of pregnancy and ‘differing gender preference’, have been changed retrospectively, and large sums have been paid to folk in such circumstances, but it seems that as far as pensions go, the word ‘retrospective’ is not in the Government, or the MoDs, vocabulary.
Keep smiling Pam, and don't forget to "Guard the Gateway"!
