My wife was in the wrens and so was her bridesmaid. They were stationed at HMS Condor 1968/1969. My wife's name is Susan McIntosh, (nee Parker, L/Wren).Our bridesmaid name was Kathy Legg, don't know if she is married. The wedding took place at Stapenhill Parish Church, Burton On Trent. 19th April 1969. Kathy had a boyfriend called Bruce who was serving on HMS Hermes. This will be our Golden Wedding, 50 years. Have tried other avenues to find her with no results. Regards Danny.
Danny, Have posted your message on a Forces Website where their are many former Wrens, it has been re-posted on a number of Wrns sites already. Where did Kathy come from, how old would she be today. Will keep you posted should their be a response, you will have more chance than you have on this Site.
Hi Jock good morning , thank you for the info. The dates , age group and names are to coincidental, it just has to be her. Sorry Kathy did not really talk about family, only know where she was from because my family lived close to Chippenham at that time. My wife is so excited, but where do we go from here? Cheers Danny
The only new info is they both had middle names, Bruce D Dickson and Kathleen a Legg, would you know if Bruce was a Scot.? Will keep posting their names, one day someone may join who knew one or either of them.
Hi Jock, this is Danny's wife. I was a Leading Wren Officers steward at Condor, Kathy must have been drafted to HMS Raleigh after we got married. Bruce as you well know is a very Scottish name, but do not really know if he was Scottish. All she said was that he was on the Hermes. So good of you to keep trying, and you have come up with a lot more than anyone we have asked to try and find her. We will be out of touch for a couple of weeks from Tuesday 16th, as we are going to Majorca for our golden wedding. Thank you so much for your help. Regards Sue McIntosh.
Hi Sue, Trying very hard to find Kathy, the original message trying to keep it on the front page, with people joining every day, many former Wrens have joined in the last week. Enjoy your stay in Majorca, at least it should be warmer.
Hi Len, thank you so much for finding Kathy Legge, also thank you to anyone else who helped with your search. Also to Kathy's brother Peter. Phoned Kathy yesterday it was so lovely after all this time. As Kathy does not have an email address, we have posted a letter and photo's this morning. Thank you once again. Kind regards Danny & Susan McIntosh.
