Denis Sutton • 17 April 2018 12:26Hi
My dad was on the S Class destroyer HMS Scout from around 1940 to 1943. I have been told the ship visited Malta and Gibraltar, before being dispatched to Hongkong and Singapore in 1941. After escaping to Ceylon she was sent to Bombay for a refit which was never completed and thus spent the rest of the war there. I have some pictures of the crew - which may well be unique - and would like to name as many as possible.
The first picture actually has names on the back: AD Spurgen of South Wales and J Firth of Bradford. My dad, Denis, is in the middle.
On the second photo, the large group photo, my dad is furthest left on the front row.
The third photo has my dad in the middle with what looks like the Taj Mahal in the background (if they were in Bombay for a while, I suppose it is possible they travelled around a bit though it is a long way!). I have several more photos which I hope to post shortly.
If anyone out there recognises anyone or has any more information, I’d be very grateful to know, though it is, I admit, a very long time ago. Thanks in anticipation,
