Cod war
Forum thread for campaign Cod war
“ During the 70’s several RN Ships were involved in the protection of the trawler fleet. The Icelandic ships cut trawlers nets, RN Ships were tasks to protect our trawler fleet in somewhat dangerous and hazardous conditions. ”
HMS Scylla along with several units of the RN were tasked to protect the trawler fleet from the attack of Icelandic gunboats as they attempted to cut nets of the fishing fleet. Ships were placed in hazardous and dangerous situation as the frigates attempted to stop the gunboats as they attacked the trawler fleet. Our ships were rammed and several were badly damaged during the confrontation. This was not peacetime activities, news reports called it the Cod War no recognition was given to the crews of ships involvement during this confrontation.

I was also there in the late 60s on HMS Malcolm,Being smaller than a modern frigate we spent a lot of time being thrown around by heavy seas.
