“ News of the Independent Medals Review in progress at this moment ”
GSM 1918/62 with Clasp Cyprus had a 120 days qual period,
whereas later medals were issued for much shorter periods.
ACSM qualification period reduced to 720 days - Fine ! but not if you left before Jan 2008.
Until I joined FR I thought my feelings of being dumped without a thank you or any recognition were selfish, I know now why there are some ex service personnel on the streets, feeling dumped and forgotten!
I Thank God and Family I am fortunate, I guess, not to be in their shoes.
So, yes for every ex service person there should be unreserved recognition.

the profile is listed under my grandfather who is now deceased. i am his grandaughter, Linda. we have only recently discovered that he was involved in major campaigns during WW2. he served on the hms nubian and was awarded the 1939-45 star for a campain in salamau, new guinea allthough there is a discrepancy with dispatches that says it was salerno, italy. my sisters and i are trying to see if we can get his medals to give to my father for his 70th birthday. we have hit wall after wall and emails we have been told to send to SPVA-Medals@mod.uk have not been answered. does anyone have any suggestions? any help would be great.
