I have served in the Coldstream Guards and the RAMC for 8 years, 24
I missed the Silver Jubilee medal as I hadnt complete 5years service.
I wasnt in the Army for the Golden Jubillee so didnt qualify for that one.
I rejoined in 2005, served 6 years and got out 3 months before the medal is issued.
Missed all of three of them (ha,ha). Couldnt make it up could you.
I served 15 years with the RN, don`t see why those past
should be ignored after all.....we did our bit !!
I served from 1946 till 1984....but now because I am 81 years old, I am just an old Has Been
i served 12 years for my queen and country. done 2 tours of n/ireland from 1972, i Have PTSD from 1972 to present day
thats 40 years and im only given the lowest rate of Army war
pension, I lost my general service N/ireland medal and asked the Mod to replace it i was told to but a replacement medal on the internet for £20 what an insult.
i march past the centaph on londons remeberance day with all
the veterans who have served for there queen and country
not giving these people a veterans medal is a bloody disgrace
i received a letter saying my services where no longer required. I am still working within the ARMED forces but for the Norwegians as a civie. The funny thing is in 3 years i will get my reserve pension payed out to me so i one way i am still in the syste. How does one qualify for nay of these medals. I did get my N. Irland Medal. And Bill Griffins you are not an old has been you just like us are like a good wine it taste better with age.
before "D" Day.A Diamond Jubilee medal would be very much appreciated and would be a companion to my four years of service medal in the British Red Cross.
