Thank you for the photos, Pamela. Barney gets more gorgeous every day!!
Gorgeous photos of Barney Pamela. Ian did have a lovely birthday, we went out for a meal with our son and daughter in law but I didnt bake a cake. We finalised the kitchen plans today. Survey seemed to go well.
Kim sorry your electric work has been postponed.
We are in for a stormy day tomorrow, batten down the hatches and stay safe.

Certainly was, Vicky. I have just been reading the write up on Andy's Fan Club forum and it sounds like it would have been a good one to watch.
I have just weighed Barney and he is 3kg today so has put on 0.5kg over the last 2 weeks.

Vicky, so pleased to know that your survey seemed to go well. Bit irritating about my electrical work but can't moan as his brother died - at least the work wasn't anything urgent, but a lot of fairly major stuff updating everything - he will get back to me as soon as he can. Rain and wind really bad here today, just glad I didn't have to go out - my lovely climbing rose at the front of the house is now being ripped off and hanging down, such a shame.
He won't be very big, Vicky. He's 75% apricot toy poodle, which is the smallest of the poodle varieties and 25% cavalier King Charles spaniel, which is the smallest of the spaniel varieties so he shouldn't be more than 10kg. when he is fully grown.
Hello Colum
Good to see you again and hope you are well. Do keep in touch more often - you are missed when you go AWOL (lol), love Kim x

Hi Colum, how are you? We have missed you.
Ian sold his boat on Thursday but he is after another one. We went to a neighbours 80th birthday party on Thursday and it was a fish and chip supper which went down well. I think I might be having a house warming party combined with my 80th in October. No sign of moving date yet.

Hi Vicky, I love a fish and chip supper. When in October is your birthday? My Mum's was on October 4th so are you also a Libra?
Does Ian know what size of boat he will be getting? I have friends (a girl I was in the PMs with her husband who I introduced her to) who downsized their house once the children were grown up and had left home and upsized their boat. Now they spend the winter months sailing around the Greek Islands!
This morning, despite never having seen the advert, Barney decided to be an Andrex puppy so half the flat floor ended up draped in toilet roll! It's a good job I love him to bits! He is getting thoroughly spoilt as I have a friend called Annie who works as a volunteer in an animal charity shop in town and is always bring him new toys that the shop has had donated. The other day she rocked up with a lovely brown corduroy bed with a sheepskin lining which Barney loves. It only cost £2 would you believe.

Yes Pamela I am Libra October 9th followed by our 59th Wedding Anniversary on 14th. I have a friend whose birthday is on 8th and her husband on 6th so we usually get together for a pub meal but she has no immune system so I am not sure what will happen this year.
I have no idea what size boat Ian is after but it is bigger than the last one.
Andy is playing tonight so hope he does well.
Barney sounds delightful, wonderful company for you.

Yes, Vicky. I have been reading all the write ups and it was a brilliant comeback from Andy. Typical nail biting stuff!
Paid a visit to the Podiatry Clinic this morning. Very nice man called George made an excellent job of sorting out my feet. Also put a dressing on a small patch on my leg which is weeping again and is asking the District Nurse to call and dress it again. I have to go back again next week. As Annie was working in the Charity shop this morning her husband, George, volunteered to come and puppy sit. He said that, apart from crying a bit when I left, Barney was really good and I have booked him again for next week!

There will indeed, Vicky. Djokovic really must learn to control his temper better.
Busy morning yesterday. Barney went to the Vets for his second lot of vacinations and spent the afternoon feeling rather sorry for himself. Had a
very frustrating time trying to buy a new mobile phone. Ended up spending about 20 mins in the EE Shop getting all the speil from a young man only to be told when I eventually picked one that they did not take cash only bank cards!! My friend Annie's husband came round yesterday evening and said that if I gave him the cash he would go and get me the phone and pay with his bank card, which I thought was very nice of him.
This morning Barney managed to jump up onto the leather arm chair and say "Hello" to Alfred the Teddy Bear. Alfred is now not such a happy bear as he temporarily lost his nose and I have had to replace it!!

Good news at last - electrician is coming tomorrow to start on updating the electrics in the house so I will probably be incommunicado on FR while he fitting the new fuse box (which is not good but it has to be done). My lovely neighbours have offered to boil kettles etc.
Most of the major businesses have gone over to cards only due to the Corona Virus problem. Most small shops still take cash. M & S have now reopened their cafe in Ashton so we went in yesterday for a coffee and they were actually happy for cash or card. I did use my card - force of habit I suppose. It was nice to sit and have a break before heading home - made it more of an outing instead of just shopping and then back to the car.
Pleased to say that all my electrics are now in good order - good to know I have a safe house !!
Just thought I'd mention it on here. Tomorrow I will be 90 or ninety if you prefer. Wonder what the years to come will bring?

Happy Birthday Terry and hope you have many more of them .
Lovely sunny day here in east Cheshire. Barney has been out for his first walk in the big outside world ..... just a little stroll 5 minutes along the avenue and back.
Hi Pamela, hope Barney enjoyed his first outing into the big outside world and that he behaved himself!

I'll catch up tomorrow - for now - I've had two great days of celebrations.

Bill, he has been getting used to wearing his puppy collar and his lead for about 3 weeks now around the flat. He was a little bit apprehensive when we reached the main pavement but with a little gentle encouragement was soon trotting along quite happily, sniffing all the leaves and plants we came across. We only came across one small group of people who were just crossing the road to go to the park, a couple with a little girl, a golden retriever and an older lady. The older lady was very taken with Barney. She gave a few oohs and ahs and said he looked like a little teddy bear and asked what breed he was. I told her his name was Barney, he was 15 weeks old and was a Cavapoo out for his first little stroll in the outside world.
I have been around dogs all my life but I don't think that I have come across a puppy as sharp as Barney before. He is so quick to pick things up. Within 2 days of arriving he knew his name, would come when called and was using his training pads for all his piddles and poos. He responds brilliantly to hand signals, I have learnt a lot from Graeme Hall of Ch5 'Dogs behaving very badly' show. If I point to Barney and then to a spot on the carpet, he will go and sit there and wait for instructions. He has learnt the command 'Down' for lie down and is doing very well with his 'stay!' My friend, Julie, calls him Mr. Smarty pants! He cost me an arm and a leg but is worth every penny. He has given me a whole new lease of life and every day is a joy to wake up to.

I am so happy for you Pamela.
I am having a few quiet day as Ian has bought another boat so is working hard to get it how he wants it before putting it on its mooring. For Syd as I understand it the boat is a Gaff rig. As soon as I have a picture I will post one.

Barney is just what you needed I think Pamela.
Had a great two days - birthday on Friday and dining out with family last night. Lots of photos to wade through but will post the best later.
Hi Pam Brilliant He certainly has enjoyed His First Day out May you have lots of brilliant days when you are walking with Him I would also say that He knows He is very much loved and a good home Brilliant Again Cheers
Interesting day today. Yesterday afternoon, while I was on Facebook I decided to put in a search for an old friend who lived just a couple of doors away while we were growing up as I had heard that she was back in the area after living for several years in Devon .I found a Facebook page but the last post on it seemed to be 2014. Anyway, I thought I would put a post on it and keep my fingers crossed in the hope that Pat would get some sort of notification. Later yesterday evening I was delighted to receive an E=mail from Pat saying that she was bringing her car into town today for its MOT and would it be OK to call and visit me. She arrived just before midday and we spent 3 hours catching up on all that had happened to us since we last saw each other about 15+ years ago. She brought her Tibetan terrier, Diesel, with her and Barney was delighted to have someone to play with, although Diesel, at 12 years old, was not quite so keen and had to put the young whippersnapper in his place a few times!
We have now exchanged phone numbers etc. and will be arranging lunch dates and trips out in days to come so a good result all round.

I have had a brilliant time over the last few days starting on Friday 11th - my birthday - lots of presents two of which really left me swallowing hard . Totally unexpected and quite different from the usual Champagne, chocolates, mugs, bric-a-brac and what have you. A few days back from then my older granddaughter Connie suddenly showed an interest in my poems which she has often said she would read someday. Apart from her ofther gifts she came up with a hard back book of my poems. A gift I will truly treasure. My other surprise was from my best Friend Steve. Years ago I gave him a disc with my tales of my short career in the Army as a National Serviceman. He arrived with a huge bag from which he produced gift after gift and then said that the last one was a heavy one. When I opened the box I found fourteen copies of a paper back book he had had printed for me. Later he said that he had retained a copy and would I please sign it for him.
I was absolutely stunned by all the presents but those two were the icing on the cake. I was so moved by them both that it is impossible to say how I felt. Overwhelmed is the nearest. Below is a photo of me doing the signing. It felt good and I was asked by most of the other family members and guests for the same thing. What a day!

This is the photo of the book of poems - sorry about the quality.
Here is the paper back about my very brief time in Khaki.
I've more photos showing the family but I'll post them a bit later.

What some very wonderful and memorable pressies you have had, Terry. Must have been rather moving too. Thanks for the photos.
Terry You certainly have had a birthday of a birthday The pressies look fabolous and I would have said you must have had a tear in your eye Cheers
What a lovely birthday you have had Terry. Those books are ones to treasure. Lovely to be able to celebrate with family and friends. I had hoped to celebrate my 80th next month and maybe combine it with a house warming party but that wont be possible now and we might not be in the new house by then although I am hoping we will be. These things seem to move very slowly.
Thanks everyone for the comments and yes, you are right, it was a very moving and memorable day. However, I'd like to post this photo of one of my cards - a pretty ordinary one really. There is a story though.
