Cyber Family 200
Good morning everyone.
Morning hugs for all.
Ian dropped his camera yesterday and broke it so claimed on our insurance, paid £75 excess and has been sent a voucher to get a £300 camera at Argos.
Our friend Jerry is walking from Calshot to Beaulieu today so he has left his car with us and Ian took him to Calshot and will pick him up later before he heads to his B&B and the next leg of his walk tomorrow. I think he has done most of the coastal paths in the UK.
Have a good day everyone and take care.

Ian got his new camera today, he got a bargain as the insurance company sent him a voucher to buy a Sony £299.99 camera which had £50 off so he now has an Argos voucher to spend. We collected the camera then we went for a meal so its been a nice day.

Hi Vicky - well done Ian !! What a lovely photo of Emogen in her Grandma's hand-knitted cardigan. My, how she's grown!!
Good morning everyone.
Thought i would pass on a little bit of true life amusement. This morning i was having a dream usual nonsense thing in the dream i was lying in the middle of a field sun bathing (something i no longer do sun bathing i mean) anyway all of a sudden something came down the field as it got near i threw myself to one side to avoid it next thing i woke up on the floor with a large sore bump on my forehead and a sore knee and have'nt stopped laughing since, my wife said did you hear a bang in the night when i explain we both sat laughing our heads off it would seem i literally threw myself out of bed straight into the bedroom wall. Feel at liberty to have a laugh.
Have a great day.

Mac - for goodness sake don't dream about sky diving. Have you tried a couple of aspirin?
Mac - I've been taken off them since they are considered not strong enough. I'm on rivaroxeaban which are real blood thinner and I have to carry a little booklet around for medics. If I get a scratch it can bleed for hours.
Good morning everyone. another lovely morning.
Morning hugs for all.
Yes Syd, Jerry is walking in our area this week, he has done most of the coastal paths around England. I do regonise Alum Bay, we have been to IOW many times and are probably going over in June for weeks holiday. When we were growing up we had Sunday school outings there travelling over on the old paddle steamer.
Ian is sailing this morning and I will be doing the ironing and making a coffee and walnut cake for when our son and DIL come to see us on Sunday.
Have a good day everyone and take care.

Hi Vicky, thanks for my morning hug. You are making me feel a little home-sick talking about the IOW - strange that I do still miss it after all this time.
Syd, thanks for the lovely pic of Alum Bay.

To all our lovely Family and FR Members everywhere - A VERY HAPPY AND PEACEFUL EASTER.
Happy Easter to you and everyone Kim.
While we are having glorious weather here my eldest daughter is in Spain and having horrendous rain and floods.
I have been busy preparing for my son and DIL visit tomorrow. I am doing roast leg of lamb, followed by raspberry pavlova ( shop bought). I have made a coffee and walnut sponge and cheese scones. I shall not be worrying about my weight.
Enjoy the weekend and make the most of the glorious weather.

Good morning everyone, a bit cooler and cloudier than yesterday.
morning hugs for all.
Syd we have been to Dunkery Beacon and enjoyed walking there.
We had a lovely day yesterday with Craig and Bev and the food went down well.
Ian is busy with his sail today as he had to repair it over the weekend so will be putting it back on the boat today.

Good afternoon friends.
Another lovely day.
Another email scam doing the rounds.
Please be aware i have just received a scam email saying that my TV license needed renewing but something went wrong with the transaction and for me to update my payment details, these services will never email anyone for these details. These criminals try to deceive unwary people like the elderly so make sure your relatives and friends are fully aware.

Hi Mac,
A very good afternoon to you and all the rest of our friends. We seem to have been pretty free from scam calls of late but no doubt they'll soon get round to us again. Luckily Patricia and I have both still got all our chairs at home to use a Lancashire expression so not much chance of us falling for the obvious ones.
Yesterday we were invited yet again to our daughter's where Ed, her husband, presided over a barbecue and we had a few more family members arrove which made it an even better day. Ed used to swear by charcoal barbies and seemed to delight in being wreathed in smoke and looked down his nose at our gas one. Ours is only a small one we saw one day when we went into Asda and there was a huge pile of them at £34 each. Couldn't resist it and it has been a little cracker - I've even roasted whole chickens in it.
I've mentioned that our elder granddaughter is pregnant and we had a pleasant surprise just before we all split up. She had turned up as did Gary - her Dad who had brought along a cot for her to take back home. It's not just any cot but one I made when her Mum was pregnant and has been in Gary's keeping ever since. So now she plans to use it for her baby when he arrives (yes - it's been confirmed - it's a boy.) I hadn't forgotten about the cot but it's hardly been at the top of my list but it is lovely to think that she will be using it for her baby as Gary and her mum did for her.
I made it with a base to stand it on so it can be used like that wherever they want to place it - by the bed I suppose. However the cot can be taken off and put close enough to keep an eye on at other times. It made me feel really good and a bit fuzzy-eyed to see it again. Everyone say 'Aw'.
Well for now that's all so take care everyone.

Hi Mac - had a new scam (to me anyway) - an Asian female on the phone pretending to be from BT and informing me that my account was so much in credit that I didn't need to pay anything for 2 years. All I needed to do was provide her with my security details to set up the paperwork!! I told her to piss off!! There must be people who fall for this one !!!
Hello Terry, that is a lovely story about the cot, brought a tear to my eye too!!
Big hugs to all our lovely Family - sleep well,

Good morning Kim, Terry and all comrades.
You have to be on your toes these days with scams they look more and more genuine and plausible every time thats why i like to pass them on. Make sure everyone knows that the institutions that serve us do not phone or send emails for account details, they aim for people who have age, mental or dementia problems absolutely disgusting can't bring myself call to them human beings.
Hope you all had a great Easter we did.
Cuddles all round from me.
Take care.

Late on parade this morning. Hugs for all.
Ian is still sorting his sail out and I have been gardening.
Terry it was lovely to hear that the cot is to be used again. Family heirloom.
Lots of scams doing the rounds, we all have to be vigilant and careful.

Hi everybody - I'm another late starter today but thanks to Kim and Vicky for your comments about the cot I made all those years ago. I did get a slightly hurt comment from Olivia the younger granddaughter saying that I never made her a cot. True enough but when I said to her Mum and Dad that I was about to start making one they said they would prefer one they had already seen in a shop. So I told her that first of all and then said that I had made her a playpen and that it had not only cost about four times the cot but took about ten times as long to make and I had made it with a very elaborate folding system. In addition babies aren't in cots all that long but growing up spend quite a time in a playpen. I think that did the trick and she looked quite pleased afterwards. I also bought her a rocking horse which was a bit beyond my capabilities. To be honest I wished at times I had never thought of a playpen. It cost a fortune for dowel rods, I miscalculated the measurement slightly and it wasted inches of each dowel rod, I had god knows how many holes to drill, match them top and bottom, work out the hinge system, screw it, glue it, shave off the top corners a touch, varnish it - ooh boy - never again.
I was pretty good at that kind of thing and when Gary opened a shop in Manchester I went along and fitted it out for him. I did shelves galore and made him display cabinets to measure. The first day he said we'd go to a cafe he knew for a meal at lunch time. So in we went and I followed looking at the food and making my choice as we passed aloong the counter. At the end he said to the lady that he was paying for both meals. she smiled at him and said 'Hi Gary - how are you love?' Then as he began to tell her who I was she said 'No need for that - he's your Dad!... Hasn't he got a cheeky face?' I ask you? It's usually the other way about but what can you do when you still have chubby cheeks?
Bye for now. I've been ordered by said granddaughters to watch a TV programme tonight and it's just starting. 'Hard to please - OAPs' They said 'It's just you Grandpa!'.

Hello Colum - good to see you again and to know that your big toe is on the mend.
Hi Mac, that's exactly why I always flag up a potential scam I have had so that everyone knows what they might expect - there really are some nasty little barstewards around.!! Had a lovely Easter thanks and more thanks for the cuddles, just love 'em!!
Hi Vicky, a rather belated thanks for my morning hug. Have had some old friends of Alan's round for lunch today - all very pleasant musing over old times etc. Took 3 vases to fill with the lovely flowers they brought me.
Goodnight to all our lovely Family - big hugs to all and do sleep well.

Afternoon everyone. Wet and cold today.
Hugs for all.
Terry I watch the OAPS, in the first programme one of them wanted to buy a dress paying by cash and she couldnt as the shop only takes card payments.
We are off to Lymington for Ian to get his eyes tested,I shall do some shopping as I need some more wool.
Have a good day everyone and take care.

Good afternoon Vicky, thanks for another hug. Sounds like you have exactly the same weather as we have here, cold, wet and windy and it's already knocking all the beautiful blooms off my flowering cherry tree, such a shame. Hope Ian has a good result from his eye test.
ps - talking of eyes, any news of your laser treatment yet?

Hi Vicky - I watched the OAPs programme last night with old man Whitehall who can be funny with a dry sense of humour but he came across last night just like an old curmudgeon. Ruth Madoc wasn't a lot better but what I get irritated by is modern phones, computers etc which do not seem to have a logical way of doing anything. I'm a man who likes a switch you can flick up or down. Up is off and down is on! You know where you are with them. Click this, open that, scan across, select and click etc - it all gets on my nerves and when things go wrong I have to wait until one of my more gifted relatives calls - ie. younger and more au fait with the damn things than I am. By the time I get to grips with one level I find the next one has arrived and I am struggling again. I'll have my Ovaltine and get off to bed!
Truthfully I'm not that bad but some things just do not make sense to me and it is partly the way people put things in their speech patterns. It's a foreign language to me now.
I'll just light my candle and retire to my grotto in the attic. Bye all.

Good morning everyone.
Morning hugs for all.
Dry and sunny but chilly at present.
Porlock Bay is another favourite place Syd.
Kim I am still waiting to hear about my eyes, I really will have to phone and chase them up.
Ian has sorted his sail out and the boat is back on its mooring. Tides are wrong this week for sailing and weekend is set to be too windy.

We had a decorator round yesterday who we have known for years and who has done work for us before to give us a price for some work we need doing. While we were having a chat he surprised us by telling us that he has had prostate cancer for over twenty years. Even more was to come - it seems he had an op which didn't quite clear the cancer but since than has been on the same injections I went on in January last year. Imagine twenty years and he claims that they cost £500 per time which is every twelve weeks. It seems a lot for a tiny pellet stuck in your belly but I suppose it is what is in them what counts. It works out at £2,170 per year approximately but I may be taken off them for a year to see how I progress as the consultant suggested last time I saw him.
I was having problems hearing him when he showed me one of his hearing aids. Very tiny, can't see them even close up when they are in position and he got them privately. I go to Audiology next Tuesday but if there is no improvement in what they can do for me I shall go to the same firm he went to. It's in Oldham so only a few minutes drive away and he says he can hear music quite well. The price is reasonable and it's an independent firm run by a married couple. If I can get what I want I will be able to start playing guitar and maybe singing again so it may not be good news for all you good people!
Patricia has had an Xray on her hip which she had replaced a couple of years back but which has started giving her problems. Just hope nothing major is going wonky.
We've been having some very heavy rainfalls lately but at the moment the sun is quite bright although it's a bit chilly. Hope all is generally well with you all and any appointments being waited for soon come along. Bye for now!

Hello Vicky, a very belated thanks for my morning hug. Do hope you get some response about the laser treatment for your eye. You may have missed it as it is on Cap Napping but Pamela and I both think it would be a good idea to have a bit of a knees up - are you up for a gin-fuelled evening?? About time we all let our hair down !!!!
Hi Terry - I do wish you luck with your hearing aids - I have had mine privately from Amplifon for some years now and, although rather expensive, they are well worth it. I wish Patricia good news on her hip x-ray. By the way, are you with us for a boozy evening? Surely I don't need to carry out an alcoholic recruitment drive ??!!
Goodnight dear Family, do hope you are all as well as can be. Take care and sleep well.

Hi Kim - I've already ripped up the pledge. Going to have to shop around for some more gin. Cheers. X
Well done on both counts Terry, cheers x
I have already had my first gin of the evening. We have had a very windy day, we went out to the library and then had a blustery walk which was very enjoyable.
Terry good luck to Patricia with her xray, hope all is fine.
Hugs to all and enjoy the gin.

Hi Vicky, I have just mentioned to Pamela that you are one gin ahead of us, good on you!! Don't worry we will soon catch up !!! Don't know where Terry's got to - or anyone else who would care to join us.
Awful weather here today - could hardly stand up in the wind (and that's before the gin!).

Just thought I'd share this with you - not that I normally use this mug for my gin but it has seen faithful service for some years. Now, alas, it has acquired a chip just at the point where I drink from so unfortunately it has had to be retired. It has now been consigned to the home for broken down old mugs - please don't make up your own jokes. What I really wanted to show you is what one member of my family must think of me and what she bought me for my birthday a few years back. No names - no pack drill. It is not a photo of yours truly either - the gent shown is far too good looking for me. Oh - I suppose you want to know the name of the retirement home for old mugs? It's the El Dusto Binn.
For some reason the image has not uploaded. I do apologise. Maybe another gin or two might help.

Never mind Terry - just pour the gins!!

And goodnight to all our lovely Family. Sleep well, especially those who have been hitting the gin with me this evening!!!!

Hi JD - your BIL is the skier villain I think, yes? The tall, blonde and very handsome devil !!!!
We seem to be a bit thin on the ground today so hope everyone is OK. Sleep well and stay safe.
Good morning everyone.
Morning hugs for all.
Weather has improved and it looks like being a lovely day so we are packing up a picnic and going off in to the forest for a walkabout. We hope to see our first new foal of the year and maybe some deer. It is lovely to get off the beaten track with just the animals and birds for company.
We shall also be going to Exbury gardens in the next week or so for our annual visit to see the Azaleas and rhodedendrons which are always spectacular at this time of year.
Have a good day everyone and take care.

Good morning everybody.
Had my first octreotide injection on Friday and the side effects they mentioned may come to pass did, i felt a bit rough the first night and following day they say i should feel better next time, i now have to have them every 4 weeks for the rest of my life ah well as long as they help i can stand that.
Had a cardiac scan yesterday to make ready for a stent to be fitted, i'm beginning to feel as if i'm falling apart at the seams i guess it will all end well least i hope so.
Weather a little better today in Essex but still a bit chilly roll on warmer weather i hate the cold.
Stay safe and be happy.

Hello Vicky, sorry I missed you yesterday and thanks for my morning hug. Weather much better here too, thank goodness.
Hello Mac - pleased to hear you have had your first octreotide injection - expect you can put up with the side effects if you know they are helping with your problem - at least you know what to expect next time and it's good to know that the side effects wont be as bad. Hope you get your stent fitted quickly too. Thinking of you, Mac, and wishing you all the luck in the world, love Kim xx
