Cyber Family 200
Not a good week for me as my brother died six years ago today and on Saturday my grandaughter should have been getting married. They have postponed the wedding until September and I do hope it can go ahead then. Her lovely fiance has arranged a few surprises for Saturday so that she is not too upset including a video from family.
Stay safe everyone and take care.
I said a few weeks back that I was thinking of leaving FR once my subs have run out. I am wondering no more. That's what I shall do. It will be a wrench since I was one of the first few members way, way back. I've made a lot of friends and a few enemies who didn't, for whatever reason, like me but I put the majority of it down to different points of view in most cases.
There were one or two who simply slagged off everything I did and when I asked in a polite manner would they explain why it was so it was usually met with another storm of abuse. In one case mostly drunken foul mouthed ranting and the person even carried it on over on another site until I blanked him. Just an idiot really and he was so abusive on here that he was suspended several times and his posts removed by Admin without any influence by myself. It was not someone from Liverpool - he was another kettle of fish entirely and even worse in his own way.
All of the out and out troublemakers have either moved on or been moved on so the site is at least peaceful which is something for which everyone ought to be thankful. I played my part with getting many of them kicked off and have no hesitation in saying so.
The site has changed beyond all measure and has little to recommend it apart from some people I feel close to. There are many who seem to still be members but who only stir themselves occasionally - their privilege. I am a member on two more sites which are far better and more like this one used to be and they are free.
I will miss some people as you might expect but one or two will be missed like the proverbial hole in the head. How many threads are running regularly? Half a dozen or so but one drives me to distraction - I can't read most of the posts on it because they are so banal, smug and self satisfied and hardly what they are claimed to be.
My subs run out in October so you'll have to put up with me until then. I am not going to do a trick like one very smug person who was in and out like a fiddlers elbow and expected a hero's welcome every time he resurfaced - I for one just used to 'Pass' - there's a hint for you. I will not be a member after the date I finish and have already deleted my automatic payment to keep my membership going.
I have worked very hard in the past to keep this site going as there have been many fallow periods. If anyone cares to research just check back how many threads I started over the years and how many subjects I raised. I doubt if there has been anyone anywhere near my total and most were well supported until there was little else to say on the topics.
Maybe I'll be missed, maybe not. I may even tell you who is the person who drives me to distraction. Then again I may not.
Bye for now!
Stay on pal
I appreciate your thoughts but this is not a spur of the moment decision. I've been considering it for ages. I just feel I have had enough after so many years and have nothing against any current member. The 'dickheads' as you have called them are long gone I am glad to say - maybe the excitement has gone with them. After all, at times I was kept busy trying to get them to accept that I just had my point of view.
We can still keep in touch via our personal Emails so no need to disappear from each other's lives. I will still be here until October so plenty of time to sort things out. Keep well both you and the Missus.
All for now regards to Ian.
Take care and be safe.
Colum I dont do facetime but use zoom for Virtual Slimming World meetings every week. Ian is fine but is missing his sailing. We are also missing going out in the forest and seeing all the foals.
Vicky, that is a beautiful flower card you sent to Sian.
All good wishes to everyone, do keep safe and well.
Syd, you seem to be doing a great job on your garden - hope your knees hold up!!
Take care everyone and stay safe.
Kim have another G&T.
Estate agent coming tomorrow to update garden photos as the original ones were taken in January. Garden is looking much nicer now.
Ian is going to his boat tomorrow night to make sure his boat is ok.
Like you Kim I am desperate for a hairdresser but it looks as if we will have to wait until July.
I suppose it's better to have long hair at the moment, at least it can be tied back/up !!!
What the hell, let's have another G&T !!!!
Pleased to hear Ian been able to visit the boat, Vicky, so now, it's just a case of slipping the mooring on a dark night and away...
