Looking for Jim Simpson. (served Shetland Isles)
I am trying to trace a driver called Jim/James Simpson who was at Collafirth Hill in the Shetland islands during the 60s. This early warning station was set up and run by the RAF and then handed over to the Royal Signals. I believe he was in the RAF but not positive. He claimed to be related to the actor Bill Simpson who played Doctor Finlay in the TV series, though this may not be the case
Looking on another site it appears he was a driver with the Royal Signals who served at NATO FSS (Shetland) in the late 1960s. He was then married with children, and was related to the TV actor, Bill Simpson, who played the lead in "Dr Finlays Casebook", - as a Driver he may well have been posted to Mossy Hill, quartered at Maybury, and ventured as far as Collafirth when necessary! Not sure if this assists?
Thankyou for your reply. I have to apologise here for delay in answer, but I have been off this site for a while as I seemed to be getting nowhere. What was this other site you mention here?
