CAN YOU DO A BIT OF IRONING FOR ME DAD, no probs, but did,nt expect two ruddy bags full, passed a couple of my chilling hours though, Weather great in Cleckie and my Smokers corner was like a Chatting Corner this Morning, must have spent a good Hour Chatting, we,ve had a few incidents in Cleckie this Year but overall it,s a Sociable Town and deserves credit for being so, Youngest Daughter and Husband just called hence i,m off for another Chat.
Ruddy ell HOW MUCH CLOTHING DO YOUNG UNS WEAR ON HOLIDAY, when i go anywhere i state to Wife AN EXTRA PAIR OF JEANS T, Shirt plus shirt, socks and undies for each day and a pair of shoes, CASE DONE, another bag of ironing dropped off Today and one more to come, if i,d have been going to Spain i,d have been in the same shorts and top all Week and bore the brunt of Wifes YOU SCRUFFY GIT. Think they,ve been brought up well by there Mum ANDY CAPP was in the background on dress code with me, although Wife does state my Style in Younger Days always stood out IT WOULD NOW IF SHE,D LET ME.
Think i,ve finally caught up with Ironing and even managed to wash Car, normally after washing Car it ruddy Rains, but thankfully Today Sunshine again over Cleckie, we,ve got Youngest Grandson Tomorrow and i,ll be taking him down to our Folk Festival, it,s now in it,s 32nd Year hence still going strong, i luv seeing the Morris Dancers , think they take me back to Belle Vue in Manchester Days when they came from all over the Country and performed there one Weekend each Year.Think Wife will be joining me this Year due to having Grandson, it,s not that she dose,nt like coming with me, it,s because i end up Chatting to so many People, as i state IT,S GOOD MANNERS as she states YOUR A RUDDY CHATTERBOX, hmmmmm AS IF.
Great Day at Folk Festival, Grandson luvved it, watched the Parade set off from Fire Station and followed it into Town, spent three hours watching the Dancers and just chilling to music, was invited out by Two of the Daughters and Hubbies in the Evening, only went to two Pubs, the George is where we met up and thankfully they had a cosy corner and drinks awaiting us, the garden outside was packed and a long que managed by Door Staff for Drinks.Withersppons after for a nice meal, again packed but we managed to get a table in the new part upstairs ie formally the Bank where i had that incident in, Son in Law obtained service by Apps SAVES A LOT OF TIME AND DID,NT HAVE TO WAIT LONG FOR DRINKS OR MEAL, i suppose a phone is benaficial at times ie WIFE POINTING OUT WHAT I,M MISSING hmmm, heres just a few pics from Festival.
Yes an enjoyable Day Kim, just wish they,d realise what T TOTLAR means though, kept on trying to ply me with drinks at the Pubs, i,m quite happy with a glass of Coke, i did try to drink a couple though, had to laugh when i stated a Lager and Lime at Withers, they brought a pint of lager and a pint of lime with ice cubes in hmmmm DRINK SOME OF THE LAGER DAD AND THEN POUR SOME OF THE LIME IN hmmm. Wife stated this Afternoon that i was being lazy ie laid back feet up watching tele, i explained i was still suffering from those Saturday Night drinks, think she called me a WOOS again, I,M SURE IT,S THAT WORD BUT MY HEARING AINT THAT GOOD.
Normal routine this Morning, Weather a bit dismal but still had time for a Chat on going through Town, bit of Ironing to Finish then off to top of Banking in Garden with Wife for a tidy up, everything growing brilliant she just had a bit of pruning to do, when she went off in Afternoon to see to Dogs then pick one of Daughters up from Work I CHILLED TO AN OLDIE ON TV, in other words NOT A BAD DAY.
Wifes been moaning for a while now on the large clumps of Ivy covering some parts of the Hawthorne Trees, keeps threatening to GET SOMEONE IN, so Today after Dinner i got Ladders out and with her Percission started cutting with Shears, managed to get a few large Clumps, Wife pointed out a couple of Branches that needed cutting not there THERE hmmm i,m at the top of Ladder and being grazed by sharp Hawthorne needles, I did manage to remove a few more but Wifes lack of sympathy for a Maturie made me come down Ladder and put them away WATS UP BOB YOU WERE DOING FINE hmmm thought i,d mention AYE AND COULD HAVE BROKEN MY NECK but NO just stated i was suffering with arm and started removing all the cuttings to Garden Bin, SHE,S HARD BUT CRAFTY WITH IT IS WIFE.
I,d told Youngest Grandson on Saturday that it was a Teddy Bear Picnic at Library Today, hence Sarnies outside Weather Permitting plus Games, he truddled into ours this Morning clutching his Teddy Bear TOLD YOU I HAD ONE POPPADAD, he behaved himself all Morning and at 11.30 Wife decided to make up the Sarnies and Treats for us both, i went to my Office to ensuring Letter was still there giving the times . On passing it over to Wife she states BOB YOU IDIOT, IT STATES 18TH, i knew i should have gone to SPECSAVERS like she suggested hmmm thankfully all went well and we had the Picnic at ours plus i took him to Library Club for a couple of hours, had to laugh when his Dad came to pick him up and Wife was telling him, Grandson butted in POPPADAD WAS AN IDIOT AND NEEDS GLASSES hmmm.
Looking after 13yr old Grandson Today, been Poorly with Throat, nearly choked at School on Monday due to it hence a bit hesitant with eating at the moment, he,s just started on Antibiotics so hopefully he,ll improve, i still managed my Dogs visit this Morning but straight home after ie no Chatting and apart from an hour with Wife in Garden this Evening i,ve had an easy Day, still good Weather in Cleckie, just wish it would Rain during Night and clear the Air.
Son and Youngest Grandson paid us a visit this Morning before heading off to Play Gymn, Wife had just called on to Garden Centre for some Plans ten minutes before, was just about to tell Son of her whereabouts when suddenly her Car appears, SHE,D FORGOTTON HER PURSE, hmmmm and i,m the one who needs his head screwed on or he,d forget it JUST CANNOT GET AROUND THAT COMMENT BUT WIFE SEEMS TO LIKE IT. She went back again an hour later when Son left hence after Dinner we spent a couple of hours planting , BETTER THAN SITTING ON YOUR BACKSIDE AND WATCHING OLD FILMS hmmm lets just think about that THINK HER LOOK SAYS IT ALL who am i to argue and it was a nice Day and a baby Robin kept me company, hence no complaints.
Ruddy Arm still playing up, tried exercising Yesterday but strength in Right Arm Weak, also lost a bit of Muscle in it , Wife stated ACCEPT THE FACT THAT YOUR AGING BOB hmmmm think i,ll be stubborn a bit longer yet ie will try again Today, i may be as Wife states AN AWKWARD RUDDY SOD THAT WON,T GO TO DOCTORS, but i,ll perservere for a couple of Weeks and decide, hopefully i,ll prove her wrong AGAIN.
Did a bit better Today but still have,nt managed to straighten Right Arm completely, but i,ll keep trying, another nice Day in Cleckie, at least i,ve no problems Leg wise, i enjoy walking on to visit Dogs hence no complaints, still managing the Creases and most importantly still being Cheerful, cannot beat a laugh and Wifes comments at times gives me many of them THOSE INWARDLY ONES OF COURSE, she def keeps me motivated.
Busy Day, had Youngest Grandson and 13yr old Grandson, eldest took over my Computer and Youngest wanted to watch Star Wars, At Twelve Wife made Packed Lunch for me and Youngest, Teddy Bears Picnic at Library HE,D EVEN BROUGHT ME A PETER RABBIT so you won,t be lonely Poppadad hmmm, set off at 12.30, stomach rumbling at the smell of Wifes and Grandsons Dinner, it was One o Clock before myself and Grandson could eat ours.No complaints from either of us, we Scoffed the lot and he enjoyed his Fun and Games after, he insisted he was having a Sleepover at ours hmmm, fraid i was knackered and Wife was preparing Tea for Six, it was half six before his Parents picked him up hence him enjoying his Tea at ours, NOW IT,S CHILLING TIME.
Still trying to get as many as possible to save our RED HOUSE MUSEUM in Gomersal, part of the Bronte History, been closed for two Years now by Kirklees Council who are craftily trying to sell it, i would mind but those that looked after the grounds plus helped out WERE VOLLUNTEERS, lovely Building.I was talking to our local Priest Yesterday at Library and he to felt outrage at the Kirklees attitude, as he stated WE HAVE BRONTE HISTORY, LUDDITE HISTORY AND SO MUCH MORE AND THE BUILDINGS PLAY A GREAT PART OF LOOKING BACK ON THAT ERA, THEY ARE IRREPLACEABLE.Wish we could go back to SPENBOROUGH Days ie before the time of being ruled by Huddersfield, we were a great Community that looked after and Honoured our local History grrr RANT OVER SMILEY FACE BACK ON.
Ironing catch up then a bit of Polishing HAD TO LOOK BUSY WHILE WIFE DID SHOPPING, Eldest Grandson called in for a couple of hours and we had a good laugh watching Flash Gordon, DID YOU THINK IT GOOD WHEN YOU WATCHED IT AT PICTURES GRANDAD, funnily enough i did, but the special effects nowadays make it look dated, after Wife gave Grandson a lift Home i decided to do a bit of Training, STILL SUFFERING THROUGH. Now myself and Wife are chilling, she made a Jug of Beverage , Tastes ok and theres def some white Rum in it, hence i,ll sip it slowly.
Nice Sunday lay in with Breakfast in Bed which i reckon i deserved ie WIFE HAD ME SAT IN GARDEN WATCHING BATS FLYING AROUND, GAME OF DARTS AND THEN MUSIC TIME, DANCING TO ELVIS, managed to persuade her i was beat when it got to 12.30, mind you she had stated MAKE SURE YOU PERSUADE ME TO GO TO BED FOR 12 , I WAS KNACKERED LAST WEEK WITH YOU KEEPING ME UP SO LATE hmmmmm i keep my mouth shut , it,s she that calls me a WIMP when i dare to state HAVE YOU SEEN THE TIME. Nice relaxing Day, Family visited for a couple of hours fro Four o Clock, Dogs here as well wanting attention, but i,ve been told no more Treats for them VETS ORDERS that,ll prove awkward to beguin with, they check my Pockets and if no Treats i,m def going to be in there bad books.
Nice walk with Youngest Daughter and Dogs this Morning, Dogs giving me that WHERE THE ECK ARE OUR BONES look hmmm, Daughter treated myself and Wife to Dinner, at One o Clock Wife stated the dreaded words i,d long avoided COMON BOB LETS START CLEARING THE SHED, it,s been a long time since i entered my place of Memories, but a promise is a Promise, we cleared the first Quarter of it but she relented on certain items and let me put them into a Container in Garage. There were Comics and Albums from Football to Wrestlemania that my Son enjoyed when Young, Ninja Turtle and Ghost Buster Figures that he played with, Neighbors Annuals and Games from my Elder Daughters Era, in the end Wife stated OK OK WIPE THE TEARS WE,LL TRY AGAIN TOMORROW.
Sweltering in Cleckie Today, i braved it and went on a Walk with Youngest Daughter AGAIN she,s back at Work Tomorrow hence a good Walk, we visited the site for the JO COX WOODS, looking good, Started on the base for the Pathway , nice and winding, a number of Benches fixed in around, it,s in a lovely spot with Fields closebye and a Pathway alongside that feels like a Country Walk, a lovely Tribute to her.
She got involved with a number of our local Green Spaces Kim, especially the Parks which are important to us all, hence making time as i mentioned before, to visit our new Shelter in one of my favourite local Parks.
Heatwave in Cleckie, we moan about the Rain and Cold hence look forward to Sun , but after an Hours Walkabout and Clothes sticking to you , you look forward to a nice cool breeze, also it makes you Lazy and just feel like putting your feet up in Chair in Garden and a nice Cold Ice Lolly to make the Day WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT I DID as did Wife in between her Taxie Service for Daughters.
Managed a couple of Hours in Garden with Youngest Grandson and his Sand Pit, Wife had put a couple of large Sunshades over us but did,nt stop the Sweating, could,nt even manage to Train or do Ironing, but he did manage to get me onto Computer for a couple of Hours bringing up T Rex clips and other Animals with Agression, T REX CAN CHEW UP CARS GRANDAD, his favourite saying and Clip.
Still Baking in Cleckie, did,nt stop the Wife from Gardening Duties though, cutting Grass, clearing top of Banking, i reckon we became a Bugs delight while clearing around the Hawthornes, Wife asked if i wanted to get Ladders out and cut away some of the Ivy, i verbally declined.
Hi Bob, the heat has been hellish here but I am unable to do gardening anyway because of my back. Has cooled down a little today, thankfully, but last night when I was unable to sleep I got on the computer and clicked into the Farnborough weather station which was showing the temperature at 34 deg with humidity at 78% and this was just a little after midnight !!! I really don't know how Pam does it all if your temperatures are anything like ours (around 37 deg during the day) what a little gem she is, bless her !!!!!
Have to laugh Kim, we have days of Sweltering Heat and suddenly we are back to the Days of Downpours, really heavy here in Cleckie, hence Wife and i staying in Yesterday and finding Duties around the House, couple of Daughters and Family called in for Tea at Six and it ended up like a Party ie quiz on History, Music, World Affairs then onto Music and Dancing, think Wifes Pub Content was cleared out ie they did,nt leave till 12.30. Good Night had by all and a nice Sleep in for me, Son and Grandson paid a visit this Morning, Grandson always ensures he leaves with a Keepsake put into one of Grandads Special Bags, i have,nt the heart to tell him that there Dog Poo Bags hmmmmmn.
Youngest Daughter and Husband had a Day off Today hence going off to Bridlington for the Day with Dogs so no Walkabout for me , Wife ensured i had plenty to do ie she decided on a big Pruning Job in Garden plus settling some new Stones in Rockery, it,s taken all of 7hrs, looks good though, i,ve told her straight I,M HAVING A DAY OFF TOMORROW, she gave that look as though saying DREAM ON.
Wife Won, we ended up finishing off in Garden SHE,S PROMISED, looks good though, she even made a Bird Feeder which i,ve got to admit to being very Clever, 13Yr old Grandson has been arriving early each Morning, his first words as he enters CUPPA TEA BISCUITS AND YOGURTS hmm, i normally get them for him due to Wife leaving at 8.30 on her Taxie Service, he normally just stops in a couple of hours then off with his Mates. Does seem strange though him not inviting me, especially with Scooters, awwww welll at least i had Ironing to do after Garden was finished.
Not great Weather for going out and about in, indoor Duties only untill Wife came back with a few more Plants for Rockery, caught up on Ironing Duties plus watched an Anna Neagle Film on Talking Pictures, overall a Pleasant Day QUITE ENJOYING THE HEAVY RAINFALLS although i,ve sympathy with a number of Areas in Yorkshire suffering from Flooding.
Two Youngest Grandsons here Today hence kept busy, took Youngest up to Library for a couple of Hours this Afternoon and we ended up Rock Painting, it was more like large Pebble Painting but good fun, Grandson did the rough drawing and colouring and i did the Makeover hmmm, we did Four, three for his Mum to put in Garden and one for Grannie as a keepsake HIS WORDS, his Dad was chuffed on seeing them when he came to pick him up he also as he does every Thursday, picked two Flowers from our Garden FOR HIS MUM.
Def keep me on my Toes Kim, nice Walkabout with 13 Yr old Yesterday, had a good chat about life, Son picked us up at Five and took us to his for Tea, did,nt get home till nearly Twelve, Grandson had me playing Hungry Hippo and other Games, wanted to know if i,d like to Sleepover, WE,VE GOT A SPARE BED POPPADAD AND GRANNIE COULD SHARE IT WITH YOU, bless im, he fell asleep watching Puss in Boots with me.
Had a great Game of Footie with 13YR Old Grandson Today, played first up to five Crossbar Shooting, then each took a turn in Goal and again see who could score the most Goals, had a near mishap saving one of the Goals ie doing the Splits is slightly uncomfortable hmm, but i survived. Have to admit he wiped the floor with me, but only due to me being out of Practice, but i got my own back when we got home and played Darts, again he was winning in all three Games but somehow just could,nt finish with the Bull, which gave me time to catch up and YES i got the Bull each Time, he,s a good looser though UNLIKE HIS GRANDAD,
Another good Game of Footie Today, this Time at West End Park where myself and Grandson used to go regular when he was a Nipper, i did well in Goal ie he only managed three past me, but then again he saved all of mine, MUST BE LOOSING MY TOUCH, had a good Chat with some of the Ladies who keep the Flower Beds in Colour around Park, they were wondering what happened to me as i used to be there regular, as i always state STILL PLODDING ON.
Dog Walking with Grandson this Morning, got to state that eldest Dog is becoming very lazy, sat down a few times and Grandson had to change over as he did,nt want to have to pull her, but she knows who,s the Boss when i have her Lead, we had Youngest Grandson here from 10.30 due to an Accident at Nursery Yesterday when somehow another Boy headed him in mouth loosening his front Teeth hence Son leaving him with us Today to ensure he had soft food plus keep an eye on him.He enjoys himself here and wanted boiled Eggs and Bread for Dinner, i can remember an incident with my own front Teeth, soft food for two Weeks and they settled back in place so i reckon his will.
Def a busy one Today, Wife and i took the two Youngest Grandsons to Park this Morning, i played Footie with 13yr old while Wife took Youngest to Play Area, lovely Day for being out and about, in Afternoon i was at Library with Youngest, then we were taken on a Dinasor Hunt around Park, there were pictures of Dinasors hidden in Areas around the Park that you had to Tick off on finding ie you had a Sheet of Paper with ten pictures on, there were quite a number of us and Grandson luvved it, two hours well spent.Had to laugh on setting off for Home, Son had finished early and stopped on seeing us, WANT A LIFT i stated no thanks Robert i might as well finish my walk i,ll see you at mine, he stated to Son COMON STANLEY I,LL GIVE YOU A LIFT DOWN his reply was NO THANKS ROBERT I,LL WALK DOWN WITH POPPADAD hmmm Son replied IT,S DADDY TO YOU YOUNG MAN.
Heavy rain in Cleckie, eased off at 10.30 and i managed a walk down to see Dogs with Grandson, Wife had me put on my Waterproof Jacket JUST IN CASE hmm i told her it would be Warming up but she dismissed my Tantrum, i was right though ie had to take it off after 15Mins, Sweating, called in for a Haircut on way back through Town,.Two Eldest Grandsons called in for a Chat, just timing it right ie Heavens opened up again and it,s been heavy Rain on and off all Afternoon, when i checked Computer at Four o Clock i had a message from Daughter, she was doing a Clients Nails in Shop and heard an almighty Bang and a Car being forced towards the Shop Window, turns out an Elderly Gentleman on the Street Opposite had put his foot on Accelerator instead of Brake, SOME VERY LUCKY PEOPLE ie very near misses but no one injured THANKFULLY just badly shook up.
Indoor duties only Today, strong Winds and Heavy Rain hitting Cleckie, i felt really guilty after my Ironing Duties ie just laid back on the Settee watching Films for most of the Day and not one Rollicking from Wife for doing so,
All duties Done and ready to enjoy Days out, Diary closed for Four Days but interesting Days ahead and i,ll ensure plenty of Photos on my return, i,m going on a nostalgia visit and expecting great changes considering it,s 53Yrs since i was last there, as i keep saying AINT TIME FLOWN, maybe nows the time to catch up visually with the Past and i,ll bet theres still places i,ll remember visiting in Younger Days.
Just back from an enjoyable Weeks Break, booked a House in Chichester with Second Eldest Daughter and her Husband and Son PLUS WIFE OF COURSE, first Day spent in Chichester, second Day and early drive into Portsmouth and into the Dockyard BRILLIANT AND WORTH EVERY PENNY shame it,s not as full of Ships like it was in my Day but brought back Memories. Wednesday Bognor Regis SADLY IT POURED IT DOWN PLUS WINDS hence not seeing much, Thursday Brighton, lovely Day, had to laugh when we we were walking down the Promenade, saw a Chap sat outside a Cafe spitting image of a Mate i have,t seen around Cleckie for three Months, pointed him out to Wife who stated IT IS HIM he beamed as i walked over, we both had a good laugh and Chat.Friday Morning a walk around Chichester Cathedral, a bit of Shopping then set off for Home, loads of Photos to go through of the sights.
Catching up on Jobs Today, we both felt a bit tired so did,nt overdo it, Wife did her Tesco run as per normal and did a bit of watering on Garden I KNOW IT SOUNDS STRANGE CONSIDERING ALL THE RAIN WE,VE HAD but the Trees act like an Umberella on the Banking hence a fair bit of Water required.
Pleased to hear you all had a really good break, Bob. I know all of those places well. Portsmouth Dockyard is always of interest. I assume that HMS Victory is still there, my great grand-father served in her. What an amazing coincidence bumping into an old friend in Brighton !! Look forward to your photos.
Bognor Regis, RAINED ALL DAY, had to take Shelter in the Amusement Arcade, note Wife and Daughter running for Shelter in the photo, called it a Day after Three Hours and set of back to Chichester and comfortable Lodgings
Forgot to put this very important Photo on, brings back to mind ALL THE NICE GIRLS LUV A SAILOR, seems fitting to be in this central position of Dockyard although i don,t think Nelson would appreciate ie he seems to be looking at it grimly.
Luvved the Old Victory Barracks now Nelson Barracks, if not for accident with hand i would have trained there for Churchills Funeral, those Dockyards were packed with Ships in the 60s and Portsmouth was full of Blue Uniforms, went on HMS Victory a couple of times when berthed in Dockyard, yes Kim it brought a lot of Memories back and the Family enjoyed going aboard VICTORY and WARRIOR, took me a while to explain that the POOP DECK was not what they thought, i think it was all the Buckets hanging above it that had them baffled.
