BOB'S DAILY DIARY IE THROUGH MATURIE YEARS
Visit from Youngest Daughter and Husband Today plus Dogs, Dogs barking for a cuddle hence thinking sod it i,m giving them one, sad not to be able to cuddle kids though, but at least we had a chat, just a steady away day after they,d gone, i told Wife NO MIDWIFE CATCH UPS TODAY THOUGH, ruddy ell i nearly used a box of Tissues Yesterday.
I,ll be enjoying quality time with Wife ie a few drinks and plenty of songs, at Twelve o Clock i,ll stand on Doorstep glass in hand and shout HAPPY NEW YEAR and then set off four Rockets in memory of Friends and Family no longer with us BUT ALWAYS REMEMBERED.
Enjoyable New Years Eve, we stopped up till Three o Clock in the morning, Wife woke up with a splitting Headache and when i reminded her what time we were up to She stated WHY THE ELL DID,NT YOU REMIND ME OFF TIME AND STATE THAT,S IT WITH DRINKS, ruddy ell She,s got to be joking, it was She that kept filling the ruddy glasses and if i,d dared to suggest what She now suggested i,d have been called a miserable old sod AND NO WAY WAS I GOING TO START NEW YEAR WITH BICKERING
Def been a Sad Day ie i,ve had three messages informing Me that Some of My Friends have passed away, thankfully i,ve been in touch with some of them during Lockdown via computer , but it,s not been quite the same as meeting up with them on Walkabouts plus i cannot pay my respects, fingers crossed we,ll get out and about soon.
Ruddy ell it seemed easy putting Christmas Decorations up but a right job on taking them down, only time i realise how many baubles and ornaments we have is due to Wife dusting every one, i could have watched a couple of Films in the time She took.
Got to state i,d have been lost without Computer during these lockdowns, i also run a few Pages that keep me busy, if any Members are ex Cameron Highlanders i run a Page called 2nd Battallion Cameron Highlanders, also started a HMS CASSANDRA PAGE, some great photos and stories, on another note i,ve been allowed out today under Supervision of Wife and YES i got a couple of rollickings hmmm.
Got a phone call from Tax Office this morning telling me there,s been Tax Fraud from My address and if i did,nt press a number on Phone before message finished the Police would be calling round to arrest Me, WOW, COMPANIONSHIP, FREE MEALS, POOL TABLE, BRING IT ON, my only complaint is WHERE THE ELL ARE THEY , MY BAG IS PACKED AND I,M STILL WAITING..
Hi Bob - have just been looking at all your recent activities !! Been absent for a few days so just catching up. So sorry to hear that some of your friends have passed away - always sad when you can't pay your respects. Cheers Kim, yes the Sad News seems to be never ending, two more Messages Yesterday, i know eventually We have to ride into the Sunset but these Times seem somehow Sadder due to regulations, Wifes def ensuring We abide by them , still stating She has to treat Me like a Kid hmm RUDDY ELL I,M ONLY GETTING OUT ONCE A WEEK FOR AN HOUR, She states it,s safer that way plus i,ve got My Garden to walk around. I,m beguinning to have good conversations with Wildlife visiting Garden, the Robin is becoming a good Mate, Birdlife is def increasing, think there getting used to Me, ALL THE BEST KIM def hope this Year becomes a brighter one.
What can i say about My day apart from there all becoming similar, still keeping up to Ironing Duties, still having a plod around Garden though carefully ie Ice, just got off phone from Eldest Grandson , Facetime for an hour and a half, He had us both in stitches, now time for a few Bevvies, won,t try the Kraken yet i,ll keep to Bacardie and Coke, CHEERS ALL.
At my age, Bob, I dread looking in the mirror every morning !!!
Ruddy nuisance without having Kids saying LOOKING GOOD DAD, i know there being kind but it cheers Me up Kim, def missing there Company, Facetimes good but somehow not the same, awww well like Wife states we have to muster through, She certainly stops Me from feeling sorry for Myself, not quite the kick on the bum but the I,VE FOUND A JOB FOR YOU BOB, motivation expert is Wife, served Her apprenticeship keeping Me in line and it was def hard work BLESS ER.

Will do Kim, my highlight so far of today is Polishing, Me doing a couple of rooms and Wife doing a couple, bit like service days ie i was expecting Wife to put on a white glove and checking my work , proper exciting competing on indoor tasks hmmm, but still smiling through so wat the eck not complaining, still bad outside with snow and ice , for safety,s sake no Garden walks Today WIFES ORDERS and they must be obeyed hence a bit of Tele Time.
Wife had Me outside House for a couple of hours Today, clearing snow and ice from around House and at front and drive, i stated to Her WHY ie it would eventually melt and We,ve no Visitors coming FRESH AIR AND EXERCISE LUV, hmmm COLD HANDS AND RUNNY NOSE i answered.
Having a chat this Morning on Meals when Young and it came back to mind Myself as a Nipper bag in hand awaiting Herring boats coming in and bag to be filled, def had Herrings cooked every way possible, fresh veg was from Grannie and Grandads Garden plus Apples Pears and other fruit, if lucky enough to have Chicken the carcass was thrown into big pot and became the next days soup, no waste in those Days, Sugar on bread, Rhubarb dipped in Sugar, DEF A DIET NOT RECOMMENDED NOWADAYS, but We survived.
Remember the rhubarb so well, Bob. It was the main thing my grandparents grew during the war when my mum and I lived with them. My grandmother made so many different dishes out of it, you just wouldn't believe, but not much sugar as the rationing was pretty tight then. NO MATTER - WE SURVIVED !!!!
Mums and Granmas were certainly clever at making ends meet in those Days Kim, My Kids and Grandkids have had a lot of laughs at My expense when i,ve informed them of my Diet in Young Un Days YOU SOUND LIKE A DICKENS CHARACTER hmm nice to know they,ve read Dickens ha ha, got a feeling without Take Aways at times they,d be lost nowadays, Wife with being from a Family of Twelve learnt Her Cooking Skills from Her Mum and a bit from School Cookery Days and passed dome of her skill onto Daughters, BUT VERY RARE HERRINGS INCLUDED hmmm.
A small box was delivered to us Today Special Delivery, only the size of a table mat hence curious, on opening Wife pulled out a large Biscuit and on it written in icing was LOVE YOU MISS YOU, inside was a printed note bearing Youngest Grandsons Names MISS YOU GRANDAD AND GRANMA, WANTING CUDDLES, awww bless, cheered us up.
What a wonderful surprise and a wonderful thought too, Bob. Brings tears of happiness to my eyes.

It def was a lovely surprise Kim and Bill, we do try our best to keep smiling through but sad that we are not having quality time with Young Uns, i,ve even given up My exercising at the moment due to it feeling WHY BOTHER, not like Me, but i liked to keep fit for Footie, Scooter Rides, Walks etc, Wife plays ell, She,s even put a Dumbbell and Training Mat in My Office to entice Me, I DO LOOK AT THEM, but at the moment enthusiasm not there.
Wish Wife would stop watching the News ie i don,t, i have an avoidance to DOOM AND GLOOM, trust them Today to bring up the cutting back of Vaccines in Yorkshire, really wound Her up and My easy going way did,nt help , hence result NOT TALKING.
Back on Friendly terms ie Wifes talking to Me, did My duties around House which kept me active, the finally of the Day was a lovely Meal sent for by Second Eldest Daughter, a lovely Meal that we both enjoyed. i,m grateful to kids for these Treats that they either have sent to us or drop off, they def ensure We are well looked after bless em.
