BOB'S DAILY DIARY IE THROUGH MATURIE YEARS
Brilliant Weekend, out from Four o Clock Yesterday for a Meal followed by Drinks , playing Pool and finishing with Darts, it,s one of my Daughters Birthdays Tomorrow and due to Myself and Eldest Grandson having Birthdays this Month we decided to Celebrate all three, a good Night enjoyed by All. Today it was meet up with Service Oppos in Withurspoons, always like an hour of Chat before Parade, think the Parade was the biggest i,ve been Part of and WHAT A CROWD, as we Marched from the Parade Area we were Greeted by loud Clapping and on entering Memorial Garden even more Applause, Cleckheaton def did us Proud in there Tributes and Tomorrow it will be the Schoolchildren Paying there Respects in Memorial Garden as will i and many others.
Very special occasion for the children Bob - thanks for the photo.
They showed great Respect Kim, normal Duties Today, Walkabout and visit to Dogs this Morning, just got back in Time before it Pelted Down, Youngest Daughter called in for an Hour then Eldest, after they left i just Chilled, busy Weekend caught up with me, Wife felt the same but had to do her Taxie Service, i sneaked a piece of Second Eldest Daughters Birthday Cake, Wife always ensures they have Birthday Tea at ours, enjoyed by All, some Cake left hence went down well with a Cuppa.
Wish Kids would stop worrying about my safety, all i was doing Today was peeling a Carrot for Dogs, BE CAREFUL WITH THAT SHARP KNIFE DAD ie she was just leaving the House when i mentioned cutting Carrot DON.T GET AS BAD AS YOUR MUM, I,M QUITE CAPABLE OF CUTTING A RUDDY CARROT hmmmm , was doing ok until i was cutting off the end, ruddy knife was Sharper than i thought and my Grip is hmmm very slight, hence Yes, cut my ruddy Finger.Could,nt find her Plasters so wrapped Kitchen roll around as i had to go straight on and meet Wife for our Dentists Appointment, luckily enough i was there before her and the Receptionest is a Friend of one of my Daughters hence getting me a Plaster, when Wife came in and sat beside me she noticed it straight away, I HAD TO OWN UP.
a Rollicking from Wife plus a Rollicking from Daughter when she called up for Dinner HOW MANY TIMES DO WE HAVE TO REMIND YOU ABOUT TRYING TO USE THAT HAND hmmm i,ve stopped counting.

Normal Thursday Routine, being Schooled on Life by Youngest Grandson, took longer escorting him to Library Today due his sharing his wide knowledge of the Leaves from various Trees we passed on trying to get there, I,VE COLLECTED LOADS WHEN I,VE BEEN ON WALKS WITH MY DADDY, i,m not as bright as his Daddy hence his EXPLAINING, really interesting stuff but i ,d rather not have brought a Collection Home hmmm Leaves at the moment are not Wifes Cup of Tea.
Great Day in Cleckie Yesterday, Christmas Fair, Amusements for Young Uns, Market Stalls filled Three Streets , even a Small Ice Rink in the Gardens of one of the Pubs, A PACKED TOWN FILLED WITH SOCIABLE LOCALS, Lights were turned on at Five and Town was filled with Colour, Myself and Wife were off to one of Daughters at Five Thirty for Pitzas and Bevvies followed by a Selection of Cheese and Crackers and then a great Action Film, an early Treat for my Birthday on Tuesday, did,nt leave till Midnight HAD TO DRAG WIFE TO TAXIE ie she wanted to stay longer I WAS KNACKERED.
Lovely Day in Cleckie, managed to sit on a Dry Bench at my Smokers Corner, watched them putting the Finishing Touches to what was for Years fondly called the RUBBER TUNNEL now looking elegant in it,s new Victorian look, also the finishing touches on opposite side of Road to a once large Electrical Shop, now an Ice Cream Parlour and Cafe it to looking very Smart.Had Visits Today from Kids dropping in with my Presents for Tomorrow, though i,ve got to remind them 73 NOT RUDDY 75, Times flying bye enough without adding a couple of Years, i,m off in Morning to have a Chat and a Coffee with some British Legion Chaps in the Chapel by St Lukes Church, BIT OF REMINISCING.
Wishing you a Very Happy Birthday on Tuesday, Bob. Love, Kim x
A very Happy Birthday, Bob. Hope you had a lovely day. x
Thank You Kim and Pamela, yes a lovely Day and lovely Pressies, Visits from Family and they must have listened to me over the Year as they got me my Wish List, Birthday Tea and a lovely slice of Cake, they only put Three Candles on it DID,NT WANT ME TO BE OUT OF PUFF , as if, i Exercise my Lungs regular on my Walkabouts hence Wife calling me a CHATTERBOX ie i,ll converse with Anyone, i call it SOCIABILITY .
Back to Normality and Two and a Half Hours of Clearing Leaves being Part of it, hopefully that will be the last big clearup, but knowing the Trees aroung me I WAIT WITH BAITED BREATH plus WIFES ORDERS, tis a cruel cruel World, on another Note i was having a laugh about this Famous Street in Young RN Days, i,ll bet many Oppos on Site will remember it well.
Hardest part of the Day with Youngest Grandson is when it comes Time for him to go Home , Today no exception, i can tell by his Dads expression that he,s thinking I,LL BET THEY,VE GIVEN HIM ALL HE ASKED FOR IN TREATS AND TV PROGRAMES, hmmmmm True, hence his I,M STAYING WITH POPPADAD TANTRUM again.
Just a bit of Ironing Duties Today and a couple of hours Chat with Eldest Grandson, again giving him my expert advice on Life, OUT OF WIFES EARSHOT OF COURSE hmm, She,s off for an Italian Meal with two of the Daughters at Half Five then there off to watch the latest Christmas Film, i,ve to check on the Dogs but on way back will sneak in for a crafty Pint, I,LL DEF BE ON THE NAUGHTY LIST BUT WAT THE ELL.
Great Grandson and his Family here this Afternoon, soon learnt where the Toys are kept and soon learnt that Great Grandads a soft touch for playing with Toys with Him and giving him a tour of House, Grandaughter took over Computer AS PER USUAL, she brings me up to Date on latest Games bless er, snag is they Baffle me hence i leave her to it ie don,t want to look thick hmmmm. Heres me pretending i,m talking via a Toy Phone to Great Grandson, think he looks a bit unsure, he was more interested to getting back to the Bricks.
Delightful pic, Bob, thank you!!
A lazy Day due to heavy Rain, Walked down to Daughters and stopped an hour for a Chat and bit of Fun with Dogs, though got to admit it,s the Treats i bring that there more interested in, Walked around Town then Home, only to find Wife had nipped out to Brighouse for a bit of Christmas Shopping, i was Ruddy Starving. Nearly One o Clock before she returned Bags Brimming, she was showing me what bargains she had bought and all i was thinking was FEED ME, she,d done well though and soon had a fitting meal on Table
Sad that More and More of what was part of my Younger Days is slowly Disappearing, we had a great number of Working Mens Clubs which supplied most of the Weekends Entertainment and over these last Twenty Years Membership has been dropping and many have been pulled down or converted, this Week i,ve heard on my travels that one of the Oldest and Largest with a once great Membership is finally closing it,s doors on the 9th of December.I,ve only been in a couple of Times in the last couple of Years and like a Friend stated IF YOU DON,T USE IT YOU LOOSE IT, very True i can still remember Coaches all along the Street for Family Day Trip to Seaside, it holds Family Memories for many Locals, here,s a Pic if it,s starting up all those Years Ago.
Great pic, Bob, must hold lots of memories for lots of people !!
Last Night there was a Helicopter going around our Area for a Couple of Hours and Locals Searching Streets, Fields etc, a Man suffering from Alziemers had gone missing , 93 Yrs of Age, he was eventually found but Sadly had passed Away, i,d worked with him in Younger Years, nice Chap, but i had not seen him for many Years, he and his Wife were Wardens of a Residential Home for a number of Years and he was also in the British Legion, very Sad Time for his Family , i,d also known his Son, here he is ready for the March on Rememberance Day.RIP BARRY SCOTT.
Been told Today that Barry was found in Park that i used to visit regular Dog Walking, dressed up and wearing his Medals, Whitechapel Church put on an Afternoon of Rememberance for Him Today, got to state i luv the Community Spirit around my Area. Sadly i could not attend the Church, Thursdays a very busy Day for Myself and Wife as you,ll have Noted by Past comments and Today was no exception, Young Grandson certainly keeping us Motivated
Fifty Quid to clear my Gutters and Wife asks SHOULD I BOOK FOR THEM DOING, waattttt Ladders out Bag in Hand and just about to start when next door Neighbor calls around and states ARE YOU SURE YOU CAN MANAGE IT BOB WITH YOUR BAD HAND, AGE PLUS I KNOW YOU DON,T LIKE HEIGHTS, my Old Navy Day reaction came back to mind STUBBORNESS they called it, i thanked him stating MAYBE NEXT YEAR ie i might be a bit Older and Wiser by then. My hands were like blocks of Ice by the time i,d finished, but i,d saved 50 Quid plus my Pride AND I DON,T CARE WHAT THE WIFE CALLED ME.
Yesterday Wife put a few Decorations up, mainly Lights, luv the Battery ones ie no hassle, putting the Majority up with Tree on Saturday, WILL TAKE OUR TIME THOUGH, somehow we always end up with a difference of Opinion , mainly on Colour Codes, i like a mix on Christmas Tree whereas Wife tends to like one Colour, certain ones are Family Orientated and go on every Year ie MEMORIES.I did offer to go out of the way while she organises hmmm DEF SHOULD NOT HAVE SAID THAT she was not to well pleased WE ARE A COUPLE AND SHOULD ORGANISE TOGETHER if true how come she has more say.
Walkabout in the Icy Fresh Air CAN,T BEAT IT, Dogs came out to do there Buisness then straight back into the Warm House, looking through the Patio Door as i had a Ciggie with an Expression of HUMANS ARE WEIRD. Just after Dinner the Workmen came to remove Door and Frame and fit new one, Wife wanted Woodgrain Effect, Dark Grey and Diamond in Middle with Frosted Glass on Side piece, had to admit end result was spot on, she,d settled for the inside Part being White, it def makes a heating difference plus Secuirity, She mentioned Windows at a later Date, i smiled on giving her my Answer DREAM ON, i Varnish that Wood every couple of Years hence will last my Lifetime and protect my Pocket Money.
Attended the Funeral of a Friend this Morning, a well liked Local Lad, Service was at the Chapel in the Undertakers, lovely Room, a number of Laughs on his Life Story, a ROCKER in his Younger Days and a Passion for Motor Bikes and Steam Trains, got to state that all the Funerals i,ve been to lately SADLY I MAY ADD, but they,ve been Cheerful with lively Music A NICE FAREWELL. Again a great Attendance and his Wife enjoyed the Friends from the past Attending and Reminiscing, even bringing Photos from Younger Days, called to a Local Afterwards to Raise a Glass and more Reminiscing, i had to leave early as Young Grandson a bit under the Weather and needed cheering up Bless Im
