We had some lovely buildings given for same reason John by the Mowatt Family, one of there Houses they gave to Cheshire Homes, another they gave to Servicemen, they also built our Library in the Grounds they Donated, some exeptional People John who we owe a debt of Gratitude. All well here J.D. and yes Maturing has some downsides Sadly, but as long as we can have a laugh with Friends and Family lifes good, all the best Oppo.
We,ve had Youngest Grandson at ours all Afternoon while his Parents went for check up on how her Pregnancy was going, returned half an hour ago with Daughter in Law in Tears, no Heartbeat, has to return to Hospital in Morning, Wife consoling her , both Crying, what started as a good Day ends the opposite, i,ll leave the consoling to Wife and Daughters ie fraid i,m lost for the right words.
Cheers Ladies, yes it,s been a Sad couple of Days, Wife had to shoot over to theres at Eight o Clock last Night and stay over while Son took his Wife to Hospital, Daughter in Law signed herself out this Morning and Son took her Home, she stated one of the hardest things will be explaining to there Son that Mummy no longer has a Baby in Tummy, his Morning routine was to touch her Tummy.
Thanks Steve, i have nowt but Praise for my Kids , they,ve always had there priorities right, good jobs, buying house and car before starting with Families, So everything was Prepared for a new arrival, now it,ll be a Date in a Diary that will always cause a Tear.Wife is the same on Peticular Days ie never Forgotton, thankfully theres more support in this Day and Age, was a bit Cold in our Young Days, Wife did some Gardening for them and a fair bit in ours, she,s going to finish her Knitting next Week, now would be to upsetting, hence keeping herself busy.
Wife using this fine Weather we are having to do a few changes around Garden, this consists of Lifting, Digging, Hammering and filling bin bags, she has it all planned in her Mind but forgets that when your banging wooden stakes into the Ground THERES ALWAYS GOING TO BE A RUDDY STONE OR BRICK TO HINDER YOU, hence took longer than we thought and slightly different from Plan, but wat the eck at least we,ve started, should finish it by Friday WEATHER AND PLANS PERMITTING
Fingers crossed that Tomorrow is going to be a more relaxing Day YES WIFE PLUS GARDEN MEANT TOIL AFTER DINNER FOR THREE HOURS, this Morning on my Walkabout i bumped into an old Workmate , i asked him how he was doing I WAS ALRIGHT BOB UNTILL I CALLED INTO DOCTORS FOR FLU JAB, WHILE THERE HE SUGGESTED HE CHECK MY BLOOD PRESSURE, HE STATED IT WAS A BIT HIGH, THEN HE HAD ME WEIGHED AND SAID I WAS A BIT OVERWEIGHT, THEN HE TOOK A BLOOD SAMPLE, i asked him if he,d been given the all clear YOU WATTT I,M SUFFERING FROM STRESS NOW WONDERING WHAT THEY,LL FIND, STUFF THE RUDDY FLU JAB IN FUTURE.
Left the bunch of Roses and Card on top of Chest of Drawers before i went to bed last Night , hence straight into Wifes view when she walked out of Bedroom this Morning, we normally finish the Day with a Candlelit Tea which we did , only thing different being Second eldest Daughter and Husband along with there Grandson joined us, they,d ordered Pitzas and Wife made the Side Dishes, she,d also laid on a Scrumpy Sweet for afters washed down with some great drinks of course.Sat back for an hour afterwards listening to some Golden Oldie Love Songs, when Daughter and Family left i washed and dried all the Dishes while Wife put her feet up and watched Tele, an enjoyable Evening as Always, Wife always gets out the single Silk Rose i got her many Moons ago TRADITION NOW.
Not a bad day here in Cleckie, Sunshine, Dogs just wanted to chill in Garden, nice Walkabout and Chats after, then after Dinner Wife got her duty Rosta out and due to Window Cleaner not been around for a couple of weeks Window Cleaning was top of the Agenda, I HELD THE LADDERS AND KEPT RINSING OUT THE CHAMMIE lEATHER, TEAM WORK YOU CAN,T BEAT IT.
The Garden def is an neverending duty, Wife ensure even the Bird Feeders are reguallary topped up and all Plants and Shrubs checked, looks good though, duties Today , Car Washing and Ironing hence not to bad, Son in Law called down to take Gardening Rubbish to Tip and this Afternoon a visit from the Dogs plus there Masters of course, now it,s just a Comedy Film to watch, Cuppa first, Eldest Grandson called down last Night and opened a bottle of Rum hence a few Shorts, he has same taste in Films as me hence Wife going to bed at Ten and leaving us to watch an Action Movie,, hence the Comedy Film Tonight WIFES CHOICE.
Had Youngest Grandson at ours Today, BROUGHT HIS OWN LITTLE WATERING CAN, TROWEL AND GARDENING FORK, Wife def must be training him COMON GRANDAD GARDENING, hmmmmm never any rest for the Wicked so they say BUT WAT ABOUT US GOODIES.
Always some Bug circulating this time of Year, i,ve been banned from a couple of Houses due to it, there comment DON,T WANT YOU CATCHING IT AT YOUR AGE, i knew Age would come into it as far as Young Uns are concerned, ruddy ell i think i,ve had everything in my Lifetime tis them i worry about not myself.
13 yR OLD Grandson keeping me Company this Week ie School Break, he,s good Company and like me he enjoys Walkabouts, my only complaint with him is on our return HE HOGS THE COMPUTER, plus likes being serves his Tea and Biccies plus Meals in my Office, RUDDY ELL I DON,T GET THAT, awwww well your only Young once make the most of it, HIS WORDS NOT MINE.
I keep saying to him that when i was his Age it was a different World and there were Respect for Maturies, AYE GRANDAD I READ AT SCHOOL MEDIEVAL TIMES WERE HARD wellll at least i know he learns History Kim.
A nice long Walk Today with Grandson and the Dogs, along the Greenway and onto the Fields, nice breezy Morning but dry hence enjoyed, i,m now going to start my Batch of Ironing that was kindly dropped off this Morning by Son in Law, i,ve again asked for a new iron as i,m def wearing out the handle on this one, i might even manage an hours Training, get myself built up for Summer T Shirts.
This Weather is def getting the Cleckie Folk out and about, Walking Groups and Cycling Groups passing me on my Walkabout this Morning ARE YOU GOING TO JOIN ONE OF THESE GROUPS GRANDAD, not mature enough yet i answered, i think the MATURE still baffles him, i know he,d luv to give a reply to it BUT HE,S A GOOD LAD just gives a knowing smile. His Mum and Dad treated us to a Meal this Evening which was nice ie myself and Wife Knackered, we,ve had 5 Grandchildren at the House Today hence busy busy busy, but no Complaints.
It,s a bit like a History lesson for Grandkids when we go on Walkabouts and they enquire on Past Mills, Coal Mines, Manor Houses etc, nice that they show interest and i,m always happy to oblige in Sharing what i know, i was stating to a Friend Today that it,s Sad them not learning Local History at School, i still remember my School Walks and the Teacher giving us the interesting Information which stayed with me. Think i know a great amount of Local History and those that put a lot into the Town and surrounding area thanks to Teachers, i note that there are some Plaques on my Walkabouts or new Estates with a Reference to what once stood there, like a Bungalow i passed this Morning with a massive stone Lion and Plaque in Garden, that Lion was one of the two that adourned the Gates to Pyenot Hall a once Grand building that i remember well from Younger Days and a once Famous Cleckie Family.
I think we,ve nearly finished in the Garden IF NOT IT,S DEF NOT FOR THE LACK OF TRYING but with the Wife and her I,VE JUST HAD A THOUGHT BOB, i reckon we,ll be working on it come Rain or Shine, thankfully at the moments it,s Shine.
Washing Window Frames Today ie getting ready for Varnishing next week, this Evening treated to a lovely Tea at Youngest Daughters, cooked by Son in Law and very good service and Meal AND NO WASHING UP FOR ME TO DO, spot on.
Wife did a brilliant job of Varnishing Window Frames at front of house, i ensured she did,nt fall off Steps and held Paint Tin up for her to dip brush into RUDDY ARD WORK ON MY ARM, she even Painted the Wood inside Porch, Tomorrow she stated was my turn with the upstairs Windows, Told her it might be awkward for her ie holding the Tin for me, DON,T BE STUPID I,LL HAVE THE WINDOW KEPT PARTIALLY OPEN, looks like i,ve no excuses then.I did manage to sneak away for an hour from Three o Clock, Son dropped off Youngest Grandson hence taking him for a game of footie in Park, LIKE A SUMMERS DAY HERE IN CLECKIE.
Def did a fair bit of work Today, Wife was proud of me, still managed to see to Dogs this Morning as well MIND YOU I WAS UP EARLY, got to admit it was great to stand back and inspect our Hard Work, Wife did state that i,d have to start winding down next Year and maybe getting someone in to do some of that Tasks that might be a bit much for me WAAAATTTTT AND HAVE MY POCKET MONEY REDUCED, NOT RUDDY LIKELY, even Youngest Daughter agreed with her BUT WE,RE STILL TALKING Finished the Day with a trip over to Son,s at Four, surprise Birthday for Youngest Grandson, he luuuvvved it, i had a Rum and Coke to Toast the Three Year Old, I,M GETTING AS OLD AS YOU GRANDAD, awww bless.
How many times is the Wife going to use the words IT,S BETTER WE GET IT DONE NOW, WHO KNOWS WHAT WE ARE GOING TO BE CAPABLE OF IN A YEAR OR TWOS TIME, it makes me feel as though she knows something i don,t.
A new one for me HOUSE AND DOG SITTING, Youngest Daughter and Husband having a short break in Prauge, set of early Thursday Morning which meant i had to call down at theres earlier than norm, they were let down by the Lady who was supposed to board the Dogs hence Dad to the rescue. Wife called to see to them Thursday Afternoon and then me again at Six and stopped over till Ten this Morning, one good thing was having the Tele and choice of Films to myself, bad side was up at five thirty to let them out, got another Two Shifts to do before they return, but as long as there enjoying themselves wat the eck, GOOD WESTERN TONIGHT.
I can def state i,m kept busy Kim, i,m just back from Second Shift, ruddy eck Dogs are as bad as Kids, number of Times i had to stop film to let them out and half the time it was due to the next doors Cat , i,m sure they can sense it Passing the Gate. Was up at 5.30 , there like a Clock, Wife called down at 9.30 so we could take them a walk, prior to her coming i,d mentioned GRANMAS COMING hence them both laying in front of Patio Door looking out for her ONE MORE SHIFT TO GO.
Just back from my last Shift, KNACKERED, Dogs have def kept me motivated, I RECKON THERE TRYING IT ON IE LETS KEEP GRANDAD BUSY, they def have, although i have to be honest and state i,ve watched some great action films this Weekend.
Was luvvverly to get back in my own Bed last Night, i was at Daughters till nine o clock last Night, Dogs went wild on seeing them, jumping all over them as they came through Door, they stated they had a brilliant Time and a Country worthwhile visiting, i,ve had a bit of respite Today , NO DUTIES apart from going for a Haircut, Wife stated it looked like Candy Floss on my Head hmmm, it did look a bit long but now back to normality.
Will have to visit before i get much Older, Son and his Mates visited when they were in there early Twenties and had a great Time, he mentioned going down a Street and coming accross a , not sure if he stated Bust or Monument to Winston Churchill, but he stated the People were Friendly.Had an easy Day Today, only Duties were affixing Six Solar Lights around Garden then a batch of Ironing, left Wife to arrange some Pots while i went in to watch SINK THE BISMARK for the hundreth time.A relative in Inverness sent me this Photo Yesterday, think i,ve mentioned we have a Street in Inverness named after Family and now this WOW FAMOUS.
Wife taking the Mickey i reckon WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GROW UP BOB, hmmmm think SINGLE did,nt quite go down right, WHY DON,T I THINK BEFORE ANSWERING mind you it was her fault for giving me the oppertunity of returning to my words of wisdom as a Young Un, think my Bend it Shake it routine started the conversation, it somehow just came into my head like Songs do at times, hence the Dance routine from Younger Years chipped in and away i went.
You,d have thought judging by my many Posts that i would have learnt Kim, maybe it,s that dangerous streak in me ha ha, or as Wife states Chauvinistic WHO ME hmmm considering she,s in Charge monetery and decission wise i reckon I,M A KEPT MAN ha ha, no complaints though. Our Childminding duties Today were a bit harder ie Grandson had to have drops put in his Eye a few times which he def did,nt like, he,d also been up most of the Night due to the problem hence was shattered, but overall we kept him busy and tried to cheer him up, think we were shattered by the time Son picked him up.
A slightly Wet Walkabout with Dogs this Morning, but they enjoyed it, a few changes to some of the Shops as i walked back Home through Cleckie, a couple shutting down but thankfully being taken over by new Buisness, only sad thing this Week was the pulling down of a favourite Venue for Years THE OLD PACK HORSE PUB, famous for the starting off of the WESTGATE WOBBLE, many Generations of Locals have been part of this venture.Started at Old Pack then worked your way downhill towards the center having a Pint in every Pub, which there was once a number off, some did it for there 18th or 21st Birthday, many just for the fun of it,NO EASY TASK I CAN ASSURE YOU, ruddy steep hill, now sadly just a Memory, most of the Pubs gone, DEF WOULD,NT BE A WOBBLE NOW, just a slight Stagger.
I,ll bet many on Site have witnessed the demise of favourite locals, we had many happy days in them, met Girlfriends or Boyfriends, had great meet ups with Friends, Juke Box Days i call them, i can still remember my Mum and Dad in law having there 50th in the Old Pack and the place being packed, thankfully i have a Vidio of it, Happy Days, heres a couple of Photos of the Old Pack Horse on Monday when they started pulling it down, now gone and Five Executive Bungalows will be built on the Site
So true Kim, thankfully the large Pub that was the main one in Town for Westgate Wobble has had a major Makeover, one part Meals and what was once the Bar now Wine and upmarket Drinks, the GEORGE has had a major History , billeted Troops First World War, Land Girls Second World War, a fair bit of History in the Old Place, now back to looking it,s Prime in the Centre of Cleckheaton.
Got to admit to having an easy Day, no duties, weeelll apart from a bit of Polishing, something i,m def good at thanks to Navy Training, Wife was out this Morning for her Peticure , then this Afternoon Shopping, told me to put my feet up and watch a Film WHICH I DID, she certainly did,nt have to tell me Twice, nice to just Chill.
I reckon HE THAT CONTROLS THE WEATHER has been laughing at my expense Today, Rain stopped and was aiming to do a bit in Garden, gets to the Door and next minute Snow, thought we,d leave it an hour and try again,Sun comes out, just two minutes into Garden and ruddy Hailstones, another wait, third attempt Five ruddy minutes and heavy Rain and Strong Wind I took his point PUT YOUR FEET UP BOB AND WATCH A FILM.
Lovely Walk this Morning, Sun over Cleckie, took the Dogs onto Greenway again, just as far as the Metal Sheep , Sculptured a number of Years ago and from a distance look quite real, especially on a misty Day, great to look over the Fields from the Greenway , Fresh Air like i state CAN,T BEAT IT.heres one line of the Sheep, same number on opposite side, Pic taken on a slightly Misty Day.
Def a wet and windy day around Cleckie, felt like Mary Poppins on travelling down to see the Dogs, sad thing about Weather like this is Wife cannot find me any Duties, which really upsets us both, i feel so guilty just laid back on Settee watching Tele and being waited on, def hope this Weather improves in a couple of Weeks time
Managed a Dog Walk before the Gale and Rain showed , Daughter makes me laugh ie every Morning she rings me before setting off for work HI DAD, SORRY I DID,NT MANAGE TO PICK POO UP AND IT WAS TO WET THIS MORNING TO TAKE DOGS A WALK, LUV YOU, she knows i,ll deal with it, i say so every day, but she still insists on appologising, bless er.Wife into knitting at the moment , on with her Second Cardigan in a Week ,i reckon it,s to calm herself down ie i,ve had to avoid putting on the News Channel due to her outbursts on those Political figures who seem to be getting a lot of tv Time, ruddy ell it,s a wonder we,ve still got a Tele , hence the knitting keeps her calm.
I,ts funny but Wife never had any interest in Politics till this Brexit Vote came in and WOW has she been transfixed with it, even getting to the point of saying WHERES GUY FAWKS OR CROMWELL WHEN YOU NEED THEM, it has certainly been a Eye opener these last three Years, but i,m glad she,s shown such an interest HMMMMMM ONLY JOKING IE MY EAR DRUMS CANNOT STAND MUCH MORE, i,m having to find excuses to ensure she dose,nt watch the News, i can,t hear any part of it due to her harassing the Speakers, Question Time is def a NO NO.
Besides my Normal duties and walkabout we,ve had Youngest Grandson for a few hours this Morning and Eldest for a few hours this Afternoon, hence we were kept on our Toes, Eldest still gathering info from his Granma on my Younger Days which she,s happy to oblige grrrrr, this Evening i get a call from one of Daughters stating DAD DID YOU KNOW THAT EVERY NOW AND THEN JAY IS TAKING A PHOTO OF YOU DURING A CONVERSATION AND POSTING IT ON SNAPCHAT, hmmm NO I DID,NT, seems the one Today was me laid back on the Settee while he asked me a few questions, THERE QUITE FUNNY DAD AND HE ONLY LEAVES THEM ON A COUPE OF DAYS, i note he would,nt do that to his Granma, HIS LIFE WOULD,NT BE WORTH LIVING, but Grandad, NO PROBS hmmmm
Youngest Daughter phoned me last night ANY CHANCE OF BEING AT OURS FOR NINE O CLOCK TOMORROW DAD, TO LOOK AFTER DOGS AS WE,VE A JOB TO DO, hence up at 7.45 this Morning, always ensure i get up early if i,ve made a Promise, looked out the Window, pouring it down with gale force wind, i thought it would subside by the time i set off.It did,nt, ruddy ell it was hard work keeping on my feet and was soaked by the time i,d got to the bottom of the Road, Wife had me wear a Cap which i normally feel shown up in BUT NOT TODAY i was thankful i had it on, by the time i was half way to her house i,d regretted not taking Wifes offer of a lift, my attitude had been DON,T BE DAFT I,VE TWO GOOD LEGS, hmmm don,t think they were happy by the time i got to Daughters , Jeans were soaking and stuck to them, Weather still as bad now, Wifes lovely Daffodils have taken a beating.
A well deserved relaxing Day, apart from a bit of Ironing, Wife Knitting, me with feet up watching Tele, Sad one Tomorrow though, looking after Youngest Grandson while Son and Daughter in Law going to Service of the Premature Baby and Cremation , Hospitals now arrange the Farewells that gives closure for Parents, i,m thankful that this consideration is now being shown, a very harsher World in my Younger Days and consideration was lacking, Son really taken it badly as has his Wife of course, very difficult knowing the words of comfort to give them.
