Hi Bob, welcome back !! It's good to see you again and great to know you have been enjoying yourself. From the wonderful pics you have posted it certainly looks like you had a lovely Christmas. All Good Wishes to You and Yours for 2019. Kind regards; Kim.
All the best to Yourself Kim, hope it,s a brilliant one, give you a laugh ie the Photo of myself and Son in Law with Santa was taken in a local WMClub and it,s the only Club around our area i,ve never been in, Eldest Daughter invited me along for the Childrens Christmas Party which started at Four o Clock, the Club is called Moorend Working Mens Club but is fondly known as the Gobblers hmm. While there i enquired about this Nick Name and was told that during the War the large Bowling Green was used for breeding Turkeys, hence the name, surprising what History you can find.I met some Friends i hade,nt seen for Years and had a good chat plus had a great time with Family THEY KEPT TRYING TO ENTICE ME TO HAVE CHRISTMAS DRINKS but i stuck to my limitations.I left at 8.30 and decided to walk through Town and admire the lights and somehow ended up visiting some of the Local Pubs, i seemed to bump into Old Mates in each of them, in the Fourth Pub i bumped into a Mate who was celebrating his Birthday,YOU,LL HAVE TO HAVE A SHORT WITH ME BOB could,nt decline although it did,nt look like the double as stated, looked more like a treble of Pussers Rum, i,d just about finished it ready to set off Home and he appeared with another,I DID,NT WALK UP HOME KIM I FLOATED ,
Been a busy few Months Pamela, i went to the Awards in London in October, Silver Medal, a brilliant Evening, the Chief of Police in my Area Dee Collins was a brilliant Host and made Wife feel very comfortable ie Wife was very nervous about going, met many Brave People, sadly in some cases it was relatives picking up there Gold Awards ie in one incident a Young Man on a Skateboard had seen a group of People being attacked and using his Skateboard allowed them time to escape which cost him his Life, a Nurse hearing screams while she was having a Meal rushed out to aid a Woman that had been stabbed only again to cost her her Life.A number of such incidents that brought Tears to the eyes of many, after the Awards were given out we chatted while being served a lovely three course Meal and our glasses were topped up regular, i,d met our Chief of Police at the Evening Champagne meet up, she directed us to our Table and introduced us to others that were in our Party, entertainment followed the Meal , some of the oldies were sung hence Dancing.Went to our room around Twelve and managed a good nights sleep and after Breakfast in Morning we paid a visit to the British Museam, got to state we,d walked from Station to Hotel and back from Hotel to Station, had to ask directions a few times and met some very helpful locals, certainly an Eye Opener experiance and thankful of it.
Our Rememberance in Cleckheaton and surrounding areas in November were Superb, Memorial Park packed on three occassions ie one laid on for the Friday for Schoolchildren and was attended by a Class from every School, even a small plot made available outside Town Hall where Schoolchildren sang Hymns, i again joined the Parade which was even bigger than previous, got to credit my Area for all they put on From Churches to the Library, THEY WERE REMEMBERED.
Lovely photos from the Awards ceremony, Bob. Sounds like a very memorable and emotional evening. May I join Kim in saying how very proud we all are of you, as I'm sure Pam and all the family are to have a real hero in the family.
There were some outstanding People at the Awards Pamela and great to be amongst them and listen to there brave Acts, so sad that a number sadly died trying to help others, one Young Lad , i think 16 at the time had been canoeing with his Dad and his Dads Canoe capsized, Young Lad dived in to aid him but current to strong, he persisted in trying and had to be dragged out otherwise he to would have drowned, he was in Tears collecting his Medal as were many around him,
Def getting back to my daily routines, fair bit of lifting Today ie Fridge Freezer in Garage finally conked hence moving outside for collection and replaced with a Fridge from one of Daughters, thankfully Son i Law there to assist, , Grandson should have been helping but suffering from Hangover hmmm I REMEMBER THOSE DAYS, got to laugh with Wife still making the same regular comment as i was lifting, ARE YOU SURE YOU,LL BE ALRIGHT BOB, YOUR NO SPRING CHICKEN hmmm no problems with this Maturie .I,ve even done some Shopping this Week due to Wife having problems with Back and Leg ie twisted herself when we were moving some Boxes last Weekend hence been helping her out a lot and due to her unable to Drive i,ve been doing the Afternoon visit to Dogs as well as the Morning visit, do i get praise DO I ELL.
Hard work getting back into Training after a three week break, sit ups being the most awkward due to Choccie and Food intake, but i managed an Hour without straining myself, plus a good Walkabout this Morning.
No duties Today hence going on a nice walk with Wife, even managing a bit of Shopping, she ensured we linked Arms as i tend to walk that bit faster, no clicks or creaks Kim so can,t complain, luv the Walkabouts,Wife did state on my third stop and Chat , IS THERE ANYONE YOU DON,T KNOW,
Sounds like it,ll be NON TRAINER Weather arriving soon, thankfully Wife bought me a great pair of boots for Christmas hence no stopping my walkabouts,. only light Rain on my Walkabout Today, Dogs just ran out to do there buisness then straight back in, Softies, no matter the Weather i,ll plod on, i,d miss my Morning Chats, best way of getting local News.
Another interesting Day with Youngest Grandson, had to laugh when i was trying to get him to eat his Cheese Sarnie, IT,LL GIVE YOU BIG MUSCLES i stated,ARMS GRANDAD , yes , CHEST GRANDAD, yes, LEGS GRANDAD yes AND WILLIES GRANDAD Wife gave me that look that meant CHANGE THE SUBJECT, Young uns def have you in stitches at Times.
Three in a couple of Months Kim, very bright, Son and Daughter in Law ensure he attends plenty of classes, only for an hour or Two, Spanish, Gymnastics etc a nice mix which he luvs to tell us about or show his Skills, just been told that there expecting another, Grandsons impatiant, when asked if he wanted a Brother or Sister his reply JUST HURRY UP.I,m having a nice peaceful day today, did my duties this Morning and just after Dinner somehow managed to get in Wifes Bad Books, she had a rant at me for over half an hour I KEPT STUM, NEVER ONCE ANSWERED BACK, hence not Talking, this meant i could lay back and relax and watch what i wanted on Tele COULD TELL BY HER FACE SHE WANTED TO COMPLAIN but she did,nt want to be the first to Talk, LUV IT, it,ll be back to normallity Tomorrow as we are off out to a 70th BUT UNTIL THEN I,LL MILK IT
Lovely Night at Daves 70th, got there at Four and left at Eleven , great company and great Chats, thats what Lifes about ie Enjoying, think only thing that Dave will be Sad about is his Treat to watch Huddersfield Town match Today ie they lost Again, i should state Dave listens to ie Blind, but he shouts encouragement as loud as the rest of them and luvs going there. A few of the Photos, Dave always ensures a Smooch with his Wife, lovely Couple
Seems strange seeing Grandsons now Taller than me, 13yr old is shooting up and is already my Height, he states HALF AN INCH TALLER hmm, i,ve had great days of fun with all of them and this Summer i,m looking forward to games of Football with Youngest, def keeps you Young.
Smashing Chap Kim, great sense of humour, i enjoy our meet ups, i,m lucky getting invited to many of these occassions, just seems hard to believe how many special ones are arising, wish we,d had more Cameras available in my Younger Days, plus so many Photos lost that would have been nice to look back on.
Have to laugh at my Kids and eldest Grandkids ie i Manage a few Groups on Facebook that they are on, but i will not let them join Maturies Only Page, i try to explain that Maturies means OVER 60, they give me comments like IS IT CAUSE YOUR A BREXITEER GRANDAD, i,ve explained before that i like my Politics with my own age group, but do explain to them basic British History that sadly Schools lack to give. I also explain that there extremely lucky in these days of the Computer, they can press a button and if the right one can get facts not fiction, WHY DON,T YOU JOIN SOME OF OUR PAGES hmmm, Bad Language, insults, Threats, ruddy ell i,ve checked some of them, fraid the feedback would effect my Brain, THEY LIKE MY SENSE OF HUMOUR hmmm who,s joking, i,ll stay with the Maturies BEEN THERE DONE IT SEEN IT and enjoyed it, WEEELLLL MOST OF IT.
