Old saying NEVER A REST FOR THE WICKED hmmm i reckon i,ve been a Goody but i,m sure Wife will beg to differ ha ha, only complaint i had about Yesterday was the Drinks, took them outside, NICE PINT OF ORANGE SQUASH WITH ICE CUBES, got talking for a while before supping drink hence when finally getting round to it Ice had melted and Drink was Warm, nowt worse for Quenching the thirst on a warm day.Today in Cleckie bit overcast BUT STILL RUDDY HOT, duties done WELL ALMOST Ironing to catch up on and hopefully a bit of Training.
A few Christening Photos, photo 1 myself and Wife keeping Youngest Grandson busy as his Parents were Godparents as were Youngest Daughter and Husband, photo 2 Grandson in middle holding his Cousin, photo 3 Grandson with Godparents, photo 4 Grandson with my youngest Grandson, photo 4 Grandson with parents, photo 5 Two of my Daughters and Daughter in Law, photo 7 myself with Son and Two of my Son in Laws, photo 9 my Sister in Law and Brother in Law and myself and Wife in a shaded corner in Pub, next pics are the two Christening Cakes then a photo of all the Godparents.
Wife had forgotten her camera Kim, unusual for her, Mobile Phones a Godsend on these occassions, i,m just in from a training hour, hence a Shower required, Wifes orders, then back to the Ironing Board, not mine but Daughters, hence perfect creases, still Sunshine over Cleckie and Wife in Garden making the most of it, working of course, cannot keep still can Wife, always manages to find something to do.
Spoke to soon, Wife persuaded me into helping trim a large Shrub, Sweat poured off me, when finished i had to go down to Daughters to see to Dogs, finished Ironing when i returned RUDDY ELL TIS LUCKY I TRAIN.
Morning Walkabout are becoming more like Sauna Walks, seems to be getting hotter in Cleckie, i sometimes feel like bursting the Tar Bubbles on Road but Wife stated that would be Childish hmmmm, off to Sons this Evening for Footie, i,ll probably be designated to Park Run with Youngest Grandson ie bad luck omen, i don,t mind as long as they Win COMON ENGLAND will be Echoing around our Valley, hence no need to watch i,ll hear the Cheers.
Don't worry about it Bob. Maybe I shouldn't say it in public but I seem to be the only person around who doesn't actually like footie !!! But then we can't all like all of the things all of the time !!!
Tis the stress factor Kim, no good for Maturies, keep telling the Wife that but to no evail, tis like the Eurovision Song Contest, she states she,ll never watch it again hmmm SHE DOES think she enjoys shouting at the Tele I KEEP STUM as i repeatetly state I KNOW MY 0PLACE.
All duties done, Wife laying out Snacks for Young Uns for eats during Football this Afternoon, i,m def going to watch ie win or loose they,ve played well to get here hence deserve massive Praise , especially being the Youngest Team, i,ll sit back and enjoy and won,t even put Ear Plugs in ie i,ll allow Wife her Cheers and grrrr Comments without batting an eyelid, BRING IT ON.
Last night it was ten year old Grandaughters turn for a Sleepover and yet again my Computer was taken over although we did have an hour in Garden awaiting the flight of the local Bats, although i think they were on Strike last Night, plenty of other Birds and Insects around though, had a good laugh, Today a bit of Gardening duties then Chilling, Grandaughter went at Twelve giving those well heard words WILL ARRANGE ANOTHER SLEEPOVER SOON, at least they find us good company ha ha.
A bit late walking back from my Dogwalking this Morning, big Car came alongside me , window winds down and an old Mate appears, he,d worked for me as a Young Lad and did well in later Life , gave me some of the Credit for doing so, he,d just returned from a 19 Day Cruise, main heading had been New York where some of his Family now live, hence some Family Chat plus reminisce on our Younger carefree Days, DOSE,NT TIME FLY WHEN YOU HAVE GREAT CONVERSATION, blamed the Dogs for lagging behind when i got Home ie Dinner on Table, thankfully one of my Daughters was there hence no rollicking, MY ROLLICKINGS ARE A PRIVATE MATTER BETWEEN ME AND WIFE hmmmm.
We,ve had Workmen in our Street for a Week now VIRGIN, drilling , cutting, Tarmaccing, hence metal plates to enable you to get on Drive, one way system for Cars, the aroma of Tar and Dust bringing a Tear to the Eye, the,ve worked there way all around Cleckie and some Days i feel as though i,m walking through a Maize, thankfully there almost finished in our Street and moving around the Corner, do they clean up after DO THEY ELL, i,ll bet Wife will have me out there Tomorrow clearing our Patch OH ANG ON A TICK , I,VE GOT GRANDSONS SPORTS DAY AFTER MY DOGWALKING, fraid Wife will be on her lonesome Sweeping the Dust, mines an honest excuse to avoid the Task.
Daughter came with me to walk Dogs Today, she reckoned it would be a bit of exercise before going to watch her Sons Sports Day, took them to Memorial Park and she Treated me to a Sarnie and a pot of Tea at Cafe in Park, the Cafe in olden Days used to be classed as Old Codgers Place, Bowling Green and Dommies and Darts inside, was empty for a number of Years till leased from Council and turned into a Cafe, very Friendly and good meals.Thankfully i had a couple of Doggie treats hence they laid under our Chairs, weelllll till they ate them, then it was Paws on the table and PLEASE SIR CAN I HAVE MORE, hmmm half my ruddy Teacake with a Scolding look from Daughter,I,M JUST TO SOFT.
Had Eldest Grandson having Sleepovers this Week till his new lodgings has HI FI fitted hmmm any excuse , had Problems with Youngest Grandson Today ie our baby sitting Day, he,s great at NUMBER ONES, but will he ellers like do his NUMBER TWOS apart from in his Underpants, he gives me the shout ie WEE WEE GRANDAD, THEN THE CROSSING OF LEGS, but with the number two,s it,s BEHIND THE SETTEE AND PEEKING OVER WITH GRIMMACE OF PAIN ON FACE, honest i,ve rushed him to the Toilet twenty times Today but no luck, Son normally leaves a pull up in bag for when he has a sleep, but Today his comment on leaving him this Morning was HE HAS TO LEARN, felt like saying LISTEN SON WE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH YOU AND YOUR SISTERS PLUS OTHER GRANDKIDS AND WE LET YOU TAKE YOUR TIME IN LEARNING, Kids today want them to grow up to fast, or else read to much mulch from People that think they know it all, while he,s at mine I,LL DO IT MY WAY.
Normal duties this morning plus some good chats, after Dinner Wife states LETS HOSE DOWN AND BRUSH PAVEMENT IN FRONT OF HOUSE, ok i states, decides to hose down car first , then pavement and then our stretch of Street, three ruddy hours and blisters on my hands ie i was the brusher upper and she was the hoser downer when finished WOULD YOU RUDDY BELIEVE IT, IT POURS IT DOWN.
Hello Bob - life can be very perverse sometimes. We keep getting threatened with storms and flash floods but there 'aint been a drop of rain yet !! It usually manages it to upset the Farnborough Air Show but even that isn't having any effect this year.
At least it saved us Watering Garden Kim and yes, def need it, not when it,s going to spoil the Shows though, i,m just about to do ironing, Eldest Grandson stating BE CAREFUL WITH MY T SHIRTS GRANDAD hmmm considering he hardly bothers to Iron makes me laugh, think i,l Iron the creases back in and see his Face when he puts it on, PROBABLY LIKE IT.
Stated it probably a number of times but I LIKE GETTING AT LEAST THREE SESSIONS OF EXERCISE A WEEK, i hate the CAREFUL AT YOUR AGE, DON,T DO IT IN THIS HEAT AT YOUR AGE ETC i get annoyed when i miss and feel good after a Session, been the same build for many Years due to exercise , PROBABLY REASON WHY MY GRANDKIDS PINCH MY CLOTHES, or is it my great taste in fashion hmmm, i never get comments from Wife now about fashion sense I PUT THE GRANDKIDS ONTO HER, they state i look good so wat the ell, but like i state to Wife any exercise does you good, whethere it,s doing curls with a tin of baked beans or getting a proper dumbell, walking in fresh air, doing the warm ups taught in Service Days, WHATEVER MAKES YOU FEEL GOOD, i,m not quite as fast running ie couple of Grandkids now beating me BUT WAT THE ELL, I STILL GIVE IT A GO AND THEY STILL HATE THE THOUGHT OF GRANDAD NEARLY BEATING THEM ha ha, being a Maturie will never stop me from trying, but i thank Family for there consideration in thinking it,s cushions and feet up time SOMETHING WIFE WOULD NEVER ALLOW , BLESS ER.
Sadly this Week we,ve had two well known Cleckie characters mentioned in Cleckie Page, both spending there last couple of Years in Homes , THE KYLIE MAN, well known for his luv of Kylie plus his England T Shirts, passed away well cared for in the Cheshire Home nearbye, saw him while visiting there at Christmas, behaving himself ie normally he was a loud chatterbox, but liked.Today at three o clock it was COLIN DIMMER very small in stature but very loud, both were classed as Legends on Cleckie Page, known by old and young, i,ve known them both since Young Lads hence used to there ways , sad they both ended up in homes but as i mentioned they were happy there.
12 Year old Grandson down at ours eight o clock, Wat with eldest Grandson up at six getting ready for work BANG WENT MY EXTRA BED TIME, 12yr old was dropped of by his Dad due to also dropping off his SWEGEWAY now for any Maturie not knowing what it is, it,s like a bright little two wheeled platform sometimes called HOVERBOARD, you stand on it and away you go, Kids are brilliant on it but i tended to sway a bit hmmm.Thankfully theres attachments, you can convert it into a GO KART, ruddy brilliant, nippy as well , great for tearing up the Street, i,d recommend it to any going on 16 Maturie and no rollickings from Wife apart from BOB, WILL YOU GIVE AIDEN BACK HIS GO KART, HE,S GETTING FED UP WATCHING YOU RACING AROUND ON IT, HE BOUGHT IT WITH HIS CHRISTENING MONEY FOR HIMSELF NOT FOR YOU awwww , i,ll put it on my list for Birthday Pressie.
Fraid my Scooter riding on Greenway was cancelled due to Grandson going swimming with his Friend, it,s his Friends 13th and his Dad phoned Daughter this morning to say he was taking them both as a Birthday Treat, thankfully Wife found me jobs in Garden to make up for me missing Scooter practice grrrrrrrrrrr.
Still in a bit of shock, went early to take dogs a walk this morning, took younger one first as normal, she likes crossing at same spot and i always state CARS if theres vehicles approaching, she saw a gap and shot forward and ruddy extension on lead released, Car came up on right of me and hit her, i ran into road picked her up and ran to Daughters house, i don,t carry a mobile phone hence laying her in shade as i did,nt want her Mother getting upset, thankfully a young lass was parking her car and i asked could i use her mobile, she rang the numbers for me.When i explained what had happened she told me to take the dog and myself into car and rushed me onto Vets which thankfully was five minutes away via car, Wife arrived shortly afterwards and thought i,d been hit to as my Hand was bleeding, i,d tried to wrap lead around hand to hold dog back and suffered two cuts to fingers and a bad burn around my wrist, no pain due to shock over Dog, Dog was rushed to main surgery near Leeds, being kept in for 48hr observation so i,m hoping for good news, Car did,nt stop and Wife played ell for me running into Road without looking, but what can i say, you don,t think you react.Just going to stay in for rest of day and await hopefully a good news phone call.
Got a message last night Car that hit Dog did stop a bit further on and reversed looking for me, fraid i must of moved faster than i thought, i accepted that no way was car responsible, it was the faulty lead , another Car driver that saw the incident turned around further on and came around Street looking for me, great to know that theres plenty of considerate People in Cleckie and my praise to them, Daughter phoned last night to give me an update from Vets, Dog had walked a little bit although limping, tail wagging, X Rays showed no broken bones and checks showed no internal bleeding which was the worst fear, was great to hear, Pets are an important part of Family and i enjoy my time with them, Young Grandson was checking my wounds this morning SORE GRANDAD , will be at Daughter at eleven and picking up the Mum, will take her backstreet walk, bet she,s wondering where her Pup is.
Thanks Kim, after a few heated comments from Wife she bowed down to my superior stubborn nature and accepted my wounds would heal without checks, although i did accept a touch of Suddo Cream, Pup improving thankfully.
I,m just glad i tried to wrap as much of the extension around my hand and wrist Pamela, tis surprising how fast a Maturies reaction is, or so i,ve been told, def saved her Life, don,t think i,d have felt safe Dogwalking again if she hade,nt survived, took me back to the time i had to fight a dog of her Mother when she was a young un, although that time i did get persuaded to go to Hospital, when i take them out i,m there Gaurdian just like i,ve been with Children and Grandchildren, reckon thats the code of all Pet lovers.
Still awaiting the Thunderstorms, hopefully it will clear the air, strange that they had a downpour in Heckie but not in Cleckie last night, walked the Dog this morning, she,s been pining for her Pup, thankfully i,ve just got a message from Daughter to say she,s picking her up Tonight, would luv to be there when she arrives home, bet theres a lot of cuddling, eases my guilt feeling as well, weeellll i,ve a pile of Ironing to catch up with hence better get started, no prompting by Wife, i,m getting a Sympathy let off due to hand, but i,m not overdoing it, don,t wast to appear as though i,m going soft, stubborn i don,t mind but soft hmmmm.
Wife had me open Window last night, sweltering in bedroom, an hour later she shouts RAINING i nearly broke my neck rushing to close window LASTED FOR FIVE MINUTES HENCE OPENING WINDOW AGAIN, an hour later in a deep sleep and woken up again RAINING, closed window, again it only lasted five minutes hence opening again, awoke this morning to find blinds soaking and window ledge and carpet below ie we,d both fallen into a deep sleep and never heard the torrential rain and high winds.Today we,ve had Youngest Grandson at ours 8.30 till 4.30 while his Parents went shopping in Leeds, he,s getting very crafty when he dose,nt get his own way MUMMY DADDY hmmm i try like his Parents state to stand firm, but the crafty little beggar normally wins.Enclosing Todays photo sent by my Daughter of the Pups return to her Mum, will be calling down to see her Tomorrow.
Still feeling guilty Pamela, Pup was in my care, just happy she survived and back home, i honestly thought she had no chance, will take a while for me to get over it, on another Note Eldest Grandson just taken his belongings to new lodgings, Wife drove him there, he luvs his time at ours and we luv him but need our space, not that we kicked him out ha ha, that we would never do to any of our Grandkids, we are here for life and our home is there home, DON,T TELL THEM I SAID THAT, think they know though.
Try not to beat yourself up about it, Bob. It was more mechanical failure than negligence on your part and you reacted quickly enough to prevent her being hurt more than she was. The important thing is that she is home and well again and still loves you to bits.
Visited Dogs this Morning and Pup was all over me, even bringing her new toy to show me, sat in the Garden for an hour with them and gave them there treat, if i pretend i don,t have it they sit there barking at me.Had my daily walk through Cleckie , still surprised to see Witherspoons closed for refurbishment hence no mates sat outside 800 thousand it,s going to cost, seem strange that the redevelopment is due to them buying the Bank i had my Clash in,PARDON THE PUN, think when it reopens i,ll enter by that door, will only be my second time through that entrance and hopefully i won,t get thrown out this time
Took them both a short walk this morning, wary after last weeks incident but went the safety way and not Far, met a few Friends on my walk back through Cleckie hence a good chat, bit of Labouring for Wife in Garden after dinner, she has a few changes in mind for garden but i told her not to rush it hmmm i have enough on my plate.
Was chatting Yesterday about changes in some Towns nearbye, Markets gone, busy Roads, in Heckmondwike they don,t now have the Rememberance Day walk through Town ie Roads to busy, so much gone, but Cleckie i have no complaints about, the old George Hotel has had a major face lift as has a number of the old buildings, for a number of Years Tescos sat on a lot of land they purchased, i always reckoned they bought it to stop competition , the,ve now sold it all and building of over 60s luxery Apartments is already being built on one Site and a firm has improved one of the other sites creating work, i personally think we are lucky here in Cleckie, nice Town centre , plenty of places to eat out, Pubs, Shops etc, looks clean and tidy, no shops boarded up like in some Towns and Sociable People, what more could i ask for.
Stopped for a chat with two Friends who were part of a team of Vollunteers looking after the gardens of Kenmore Cheshire Home in Cleckie, i was shocked when they told me it was coming up for sale, a lovely building former house of the well known Mowatt family of Cleckie, they,d given it to Cheshire and it has been the home to many over the Years, what came back to mind was a large plot of Land at rear of home which Council sold recently for building houses on SOMETHING WE THOUGHT WOULD NEVER HAPPEN AS IT WAS WELL USED BY LOCALS, only one drawback ACCESS, theres been petitions against them using Kenmore Estate Roads which are very tight for residents, then suddenly this now comes out ie Cheshire Home has it,s own Road in and out plus it,s main road frontage hmmmm, spot on for Developer , VERY SAD TO HEAR lovely house and great home for many over many Years, gave a lot of grrrrs when i was told.
Park this morning with Youngest Grandson, the Park won an Award recently for looking good, it,s only a small Park but well tended by FRIENDS OF WEST END PARK, they,ve done a lovely job over the years and it,s used by local kids Football Teams on a Saturday, we have some great Vollunteers around our area who try to save and upkeep many areas, sadly even there resolve could not save RED HOUSE MUSEAM which has Bronte connections but needed more funding hence COUNCIL DECIDING TO SELL, some groups made proposals to run it but i reckon Council were more interested in the money, this has happened with a few of our buildings recently plus plots of Land, IT,S SAD , HISTORY OF AN AREA IS IMPORTANT AND BUILDINGS CAN NOT BE REPLACED, there is some Developers that have refurbished some old buildings which i,m pleased about. I remember some Years ago a lovely Chapel in a nearbye Cemetery suddenly gome, found out later it now adorns the very large Garden of a wealthy individual hmmm, like i,ve mentioned many times i luv Cleckie and it,s History, hence the reason i started up a Page to reminisce and hopefully save. Well enough grrrs Grandsons shouting for his Playmate.
On my Walkabout this Morning noticed a large gathering at the Catholic Church, Speakers outside, on my way back the George Pub had packed Gardens, many of the young lads wearing Rugby tops, the Ladies wearing colourful attire, it was the Funeral of a Young Chap in his thirties that had passed away while attending a Rugby Match that he was to play in, he,d been a Coach for Young Uns besides being a Player, well known around Cleckie, a great Turnout to mark his sad departure .This event was organised in his name,
Brilliant turnout Kim, as you say appreciated by many. Todays been a real busy one, started early on the jobs i promised Wife i,d do, from cleaning top of Connie Roof, to affixing some stone flags, took me about four hours, then phone call from Daughter asking me to go and let Dogs into Garden as they were out Shopping a bit later than she thought she,d be, on return my Son and Grandson were visiting plus Eldest Grandson, Wife having a Game of Badmington with eldest while i was the target for Youngest Grandsons dart guns,KEPT AIMING FOR MY NOSE FOR SOME REASON, Wife treated me to a Chinese when they left and now it,s chilling time, i certainly deserve it.
Got in Touch with a relative this Morning, she was trying to find her relatives in Inverness, added some Photographs from her Fathers Album, sadly he passed away a couple of Years ago, lived in Norfolk, i,d actually contacted him a few Years prior to that when my Uncle Jimmy passed away ie obtained his phone number from an Aunt, this Photo of my Grandad centre and two of his Sons i,ll now add to my Wells album, a number of relatives have now got back in touch, some we never knew about, again the power of computer.
Up early busy day ahead, think i contemplate that same comment every Day, will be off Computer for Four Days hence take care, will update you on Friday, Weather still spot on i Cleckie so no complaints.
Just back from a great break in Lincolnshire, enjoyed by all, got a bit hooked on those ruddy Tipping Machines with Grandson, lucky they were the Two Penny ones otherwise my pocket money would have gone in one Evening, visited Skeggie as well, ruddy ell it was packed, just went for Afternoon visit, Grandson tried like ell to get me onto the Big Wheel, he knows i don,t like heights and he,d rocked the ruddy thing to watch expression on my face, but i,m not daft ie let his Dad go on with him.
