14 Army
14 Army
This Campaign started with the withdrawal of British Troops from Burma in 1942-43 and the advance of 14 Army back into Burma and the of Rangoon in 1944.
You mention Lt Col DGT Horsford as Commanding a Gurkha Bn. He won a DSO at Kohima and a bar to his DSO for his Battalion’s vigour in the advance back into Burma.
My Father, Edward Boyd O’Bryen Horsford; then a Lt Col, was CO of the Training and Reinforcement Battalion of 81st West African Div in Burma. He received an MID.
