The medal is currently planned to be awarded to all serving members of the armed and civil services who have complete 5 years service. Given that most retired members have provided service to Her Majesty in the last 60 years in a variety of locations and conflicts it seems illogical that we are being ignored. A PCSO having done 5 years on the beat qualifies whilst a long service member of the armed forces who might have seen service in the Falklands, Bosnia and Iraq will be ignored. Retired and serving members (who had not served 5 years) did not receive either the silver or golden anniversary medals. Surely on this unique occasion an exception could be made.

I am a 25 yr. Veteran, Royal Air Force, and I would like very much to be the proud holder of this commemorative medal.
After serving 25 years during all of the Jubilees etc, we should ALL have qualified for these and many more awards. We, after all volunteered to serve OUR country.
Guard ship HMS Birmingham 1977 fleet review. Never saw a medal but we all thought we were getting one.
Silver jubilee medal was only given to a few whilst serving. It appeared to be a lucky dip at the time. Although I have seen a couple of people wearing them that I suspect were bought from a medal catalog.
Too difficult to do the work to ensure that all those who have served HM the Queen in excess of 5 years and now retired. OMG, and the expense.....it is a sad fact that in all probability this will not happen. As for a PCSO getting it, it makes me very angry...??????
Quite right, I am in total agreement John. Feet dragging most probably, maybe cost cutting by MOD. is a likely answer.
agree that all who have served should get one
22 years service, about 14 of the.m in far flung lands,is surely worth a little recognition.
10 years service as a regular serviceman but no medals at all. It would be a great honour to be able to show a "little something" for my years of service and to know that it has been officially recognised....
