I must add that my surname was different then, I was 24212009 Driver C D Hilton D Troop, 6 Squadron Royal Corps of Transport, Duisburg, West Germany. I enlisted on the 25th August 1970.

I served in Northern Ireland in 1972-1973 with the RCT as a Saracen Driver, I was 19 years old and I lost a great friend who was shot by a sniper, he was 20 years old. We have been forgotten and vilified, whilst those who we fought against, have been laurded.

Served in RAF 1961 til 1970. Joined RUCGC for 30 years. Was in west Belfast for a while. Saw all the conditions our friends worked and lived in. you are absolutely correct spent my first tour living in a burnt out bus for 4 months on the outskirts of Belfast had to do 16 hour patrols then we had to guard our bus 24/7 and we lived on rations dated 1954 to 1961

Served RAF Ballykelly 1969- 1970. Was present when OP Banner commenced. On leaving RAF joined the Royal Ulster Constabulary serving mostly in the North West. Worked alongside military in Londonderry, places like Creggan Camp, Bligh's Lane, Fort George, Ebrington Barracks, Victor Border Checkpoints...
