Calling for any memories or stories of Jufair
I am currently the Media officer for UKMCC in Bahrain. The new HMS Jufair will open in Q 1 2018. Navy News / RN Media would hugely welcome any old hands from HMS Jufair who may be prepared to share their memories or stories of service in Jufair to promote the commissioning of the new facility. I served in jufair from November 1965 to november 1966. Served in the tenders victualing office supporting the minesweeping squadron think there was six in the squadron if I Remember rightly. Hms striker was also based along with a detachment of the s b s.

I served in HMS Jufair from October 1965 to October 1967. Initially was was based on the Minesweeper Repair Craft (MRC) as an Able Seaman before being transferred to the Rigging Compound - best job I had. The draft was a married accompanied draft for me and my wife joined me after about 4 months....
