September 1968, I arrived at Newark railway station. There was a sign telling new recruits where to wait for the RAF bus to camp. There was quite a few of us, but we didn't have to wait long until a 39 seat RAF coach pulled up and we all got on. We arrived at Swinderby camp and a corporal boarded...

I was at Swinderby from late January to early March in 1968 I seem to recall being in 2 Flt downstairs with 1 Flt upstairs our DI's were Cpl Ward,Cpl Leahy( RAF Regiment), Sgt Watson (a miserable bugger) and Oi/c Flt Packham. I remember camping in Sherwood Forest in February and freezing our nuts...

My visit to Swinderby was very brief i have to say. I arrived on March 20th 1966 , was there for two or three days to get kitted out and have the preliminaries done and then a number us of were coached to RAF Hemswell to do our training there. Happy days.
